Our group included adults and children (ages 10-16) from several families. Some were fishermen, some were divers, others wanted to snorkel and explore. The team at Turneffe Flats went out of their way to ensure that everyone was happy. Fishing guides were excellent and accommodated a range of skill levels (they typically cater to advanced fly fishermen). Diving staff was very knowledgeable, safe and fun to be with. Atoll Adventure nature/snorkeling tours were very popular. The setting of the lodge is beautiful and the natural resources of the Atoll are vast and diverse. Our accommodations in a waterfront cabin were very comfortable: clean room, comfortable beds, updated bathroom. Food was also great, from the lodge meals to the boxed lunches. This sort of performance is always more impressive in a remote setting such as Turneffe Atoll. We will be back!

Spent a week at Turneff, was battered by one storm after another, high winds, rain and clouds. Despite these obstacles I caught many bonefish and hooked 4 permit landing 2. My guide Dion was unbelievable at seeing fish under these conditions and deserves all the credit. The staff at Turneff did a great job of making everything work out. The rooms were clean and fresh every day. My non-angling spouse had a good time viewing the different attractions especially the visit to the Blue Hole. Food was good. We all enjoyed mingling with the other guests each evening.

I recently had a chance to visit Turneffe Flats on the Turneffe Atoll in Belize for a week of fishing for bonefish and permit. Not only did the fishing exceed my expectations (it was absolutely incredible), but so did the staff, lodging and meals. After touchdown in Belize City, the transfer to the marina where you meet the boat to Turneffe, the transitions were seamless. The staff was incredibly friendly, and extremely knowledgeable. Everyone was made to feel right at home and it was more like sharing laughs with family than just visiting for vacation. The rooms were very nice, with large comfortable beds in each room, and wonderful cold air conditioning, which I really didn't think existed in Belize before now. Breakfasts, lunch, and dinner were all well prepared and delightful. Can't wait to return!

Room Tip: Beach side is fabulous!

Great fishing in a beautiful setting! The fly fishing for bonefish and permit is the best I have experienced. The atoll is beautiful and the flats unsurpassed. The accomodations are comfortable and clean-there is nothing better than sitting on your porch literally feet from the ocean listening to the waves break over the reef and seeing tailing bonefish and permit. Food and ambience are great, the staff wonderful and friendly, and the service awesome. The guides are great, knowledgeable and work hard to get you to the fish. Hard to pick what I like best. The owners have done a great job creating a destination that you will want to visit again.

If you enjoy fishing for bonefish, permit, tarpon, and if you love breathtaking beauty, great food, and wonderful people, this is a place worth visiting. The fishing is some of the best in the world and the guides are outstanding. Divers also love this place. What is remarkable to us, though, is that the service, food, and people who run the place are all absolutely top notch. Craig and Karen, who run the operation, are the perfect hosts. The rooms are usually small cottages. They've been recently remodeled and are spacious, attractive, and well kept up. There is a small, lovely pool for those who want to stay cool and enjoy the view of the flats, which are just steps away. The food is Belizean or American and always delicious. A highlight is dinner at the main lodge each night, where visitors sit together and socialize, beginning with appetizers (among the best we have ever had). Whether or not you are a hard-core angler (we are), you just cannot be disappointed. We have fished in many places in the world, and Turneffe Flats ranks right at the top!

Hi Everyone,

We just got back a few days ago from Belize. We spent half the week at duPlooy's jungle lodge, and the rest at Turneffe's. Both were great. Be aware that the boat ride to the flats is 1 1/2 hours,...but a very scenic ride. We knew it was this long, but if you don't know, it might throw you.
Luckily it was very windy, which I prefer to keep the sand fleas and horseflies, away, of which there is plenty...bring bug spray...we did, and used it. The place was very clean, the staff excellent, and the location for us was great. They have a lovely pool, which we only used once !
Due to the location, and trying to be eco-friendly, power does go out from time to time, we thought this charming, but some may not, it does not last long however. But, the location for divers, kaykaers, and nature in general, it is great. We took off alone and spent a day kayaking the mangroves, and flats, then spent another snorkeling...we had no time for diving this year.
The snorkeing is great right off the dock ! We saw big barracuda, lion fish, schools of Tang, yellow jacks, all sizes of queen angels...etc....star gazing at night awesome !
We would go back !!
Thanks,
Turneffe's !!

My wife and I do two scuba dive trips a year at different locations. This year, Belize was our destination. Our travel agent, who specializes in dive resorts, recommended Turneffe Flats. This resort caters to dives and anglers on the hunt for bone fish. The week we were there we were the only divers. Everyone else was fishing. If you have never hung out with fly fisherman, they are a great group of people. Even though we were the only divers, the dive boat captain (Capt) and the dive master (Alex) showed us a great week and cut no corners. The diving was spectacular. Alex went out of his way to be a great guide. In over ten years of scuba diving I found him to be the most knowledgeable and informative dive master and underwater guild I have ever had. He has an underwater board that he constantly communicates with you on. He knows his stuff.... and has a great scene of humor.

The rooms were great. You are right on the water with a view that is unbelievable. The food and dining experience is great. The food was unbelievably good. We looked forward to the hors d'oeuvres and social time before dinner. You eat with the staff and other guest and they are a great group with ample conversation.

We never return to the same resort.... there are just so many places to go. However, we may go back to this one.
