“Cruise ship companies run this”
Reviewed 8 June 2013

The tourism village was built by the cruise ship companies if I'm not mistaken, here you will find the typical shops as in other ports (jewelry and handicrafts). I prefer to venture into the more authentic parts of the city, there is a flea market right outside the tourism village or a water taxi terminal that will take you to several of the closest Cayes. Of course the locals are VERY pushy right outside the gates of the tourism village, so if you want to avoid that then at least you can get some good souvenirs in the Tourism Village. I would recommend taking a tour instead to get a better Belize experience.

“Mock up village for cruise ship tourists.”
Reviewed 6 June 2013 via mobile

We were staying at the Radisson near the cruise ship 'village' and discovered it is more like a stage set of a shopping area that is only open when ships are in port. Outside the gate is an artists market where the same items cost a lot less. The bars in the 'village' have nice water views--but if you really want to say you have been to Belize, take a tour to a temple, a cave, or to the zoo!

“Just another cruise ship shopping district”
Reviewed 18 April 2013

We arrived on a day when there were several other ships were in port. The shopping area was crowded and uninteresting, as every shop seemed to be selling the same thing---knock off designer goods, hammacks, etc. And of course, the constant cruise ship jewelry stores.

There were tours advertised, and hawkers trying to get you to take their tour. We were "warned" by the cruise staff not to go outside the fence surrounding the stores. We saw people hanging over the fence trying to get people to book tours with them as well.

Several bars and small restaurants with the usual food and drinks.

The only reason we went to the port was that our excursion was cancelled due to high seas.

“It was okay.”
Reviewed 18 April 2013

The shops at the Tourism had many interesting things. I didn't stay long. I was just there to meet fellow travelers coming off the water taxi.
