“Thrown away to another guide”
Reviewed 7 April 2014

After being dropped-off by Carlos Panti who could not do the ATM Cave tour ( or at least this what he told us), we have decided to take a tour with this company as per their good reviews from TripAdvisor.

Although when getting to their office just the night before the tour, they said we were the first people booking the following day ATM tour, when arriving at the starting point of the tour they sent us to another guide because their group was too big. We thought this was totally unprofessional - at least they could have mentioned this possibility of being thrown to another guide.

Therefore when booking with them make sure they will keep you within their groups.

“Overnight to Tikal”
Reviewed 22 March 2014

There were three adults on this tour in early March 2014. The tour was booked in October 2013. The prices on the website were incorrect, perhaps that should have put up a red flag. When I inquired as to the price increase, I was told it was because the price of the accommodations at the Tikal Inn had increased. The room we got at the Tikal Inn, was small, clean and in the " annex, which is a fair distance form the main hotel. At night, the room was full of insects, fireflies because of the large gaps between the door and the door frame. When we asked for a room change, we were advised the hotel was full. We inquired as to when our room was booked the hotel advised 2 weeks before our arrival. I would have thought if a tour was booked in October, so too the rooms would have been booked. The price increase which, I believe was about $40 USD pp was not justified. Max who accompanied us into Guatemala, sent us out on our tour to Tikal and stated he would look after the problem. Obviously not to our satisfaction! The process for food vouchers was not explained to us, fortunately we were able to figure it out.
Our tour guide Luis, was excellent, tho at times seems almost fanatical about the Mayan culture. Another interesting note, his guide license had expired, so we has another guide with us who spoke very little English. Her presence allowed Luis to act as our guide.
The driver, Danny was great but again spoke little English and he was our only escort back into
Belize.

“Tour guide John.”
Reviewed 6 March 2014

We had tour guide John and he was great! We went to Caracol and stopped at the falls on the way back where he skinny dipped! We had a great time. :)

“Unbelievably awesome!”
Reviewed 5 January 2014

We're a couple that generally try staying off the beaten path, and are especially wary of guided tours. That being said, our experience with Maximum tours was really unforgettable. When looking for a day trip to Tikal, Maximum were the only ones who guaranteed a small group (6). During the trip itself, the guides were helpful and informative, expedited our border control process and went out of their way to accommodate special requests for stops on the way back.

In short, can't recommend them highly enough.

“Day trip to Tikal”
Reviewed 1 January 2014

Max and Douglas made this tour easy and memorable, The guide at Tikal, Luis, was knowledge and passionate about the Mayan world and we learnt lots., It would have been nice to have had a little time to ourselves aat Tikal itself and it was a shame that we were unable to have lunch in the park rather than i a gift shop on the way back to Flores. Maximum tours also organised a reasonably priced trip for us back to Belize City from San Ignacio. Recommended.
