The Inn is a short walk or $2.50 BZ taxi ride from the bus station. The main tourist area is a 5 min walk . Shamira, the manger was very responsive to all my needs and questions. The room was clean, large and the full kitchen a bonus! Two Mayan ruins are close to the hotel. Cahal Pech is a 25 minute walk and Xunantunich an in short bus or taxi ride. I always felt safe at the Rainforest Haven Inn and will return. Thank you, Shamira for being such an excellent host.

PROs: The hotel/Inn is located just about 5 Minutes walk from the main place/main street in San Ignacio, which makes it perfect to walk to and from there to the hotel at day and night. The rooms are spacious, come with 2 big nice natural wooden beds with clean sheets. The rooms have a good airconditioning which is needed during hot days. Aside that find TV, a fridge inside the room, a private bathroom and shower. Outside the room find a nice terrace overooking the town at sunset, a common area with TV and a shared kitchen. Even wifi in the rooms (a bit slow though). All you need.
CONs: The room itself (building) as a bit old and especially the also spacious bathroom looks a bit interesting. As it lies directly at the street it was very noisy at night: Cars all night and drunken people yelling. Others than that is very good.

From the time we arrived to the time we left, Shamira, the hotel manager was there to help us and very helpful with answering any questions about the local area and even set us up on some fantastic tours! This is definitely a great place for the budget traveler. Nothing too fancy, just clean affordable and very accommodating. By Belizean standards, this is a great place to stay. No there isn't a restaurant or fancy pool. Just good rooms with a/c. And shower. There are plenty of great places to eat and shop just two blocks away. Shamira was great at advising us in the local restaurants and attractions. They even have a common area kitchen up in the upper floor for your using as well. While touring Xunantunitch, we met another couple there that had driven four hours that morning to see the ruins. They were wanting to stay in the area and do the ATM cave the next day. Shamira was very accommodating and was able to give them a great price on the only room available. The Cahal Pech ruins are only a ten minute walk away too. Definitely stay here if you are a budget traveler looking for a great place to stay!

Our family of four stayed in room 5 which had 2 queen beds, A/C, TV, large bathroom with hot shower. Next door is a full kitchen with fridge and filtered water. Shamera is extremely helpful and very welcoming. She provides laundry services for a small fee. We had a rental car and with advanced notice, she allowed us to park it on the side of the inn behind a gate. The inn is located part way up a hill so it still close to all the restaurants and shops but far away from much of the city’s noise.

Stayed there for five days in room 4. It was very clean and my wife and I enjoyed our stay very much. The bathroom was not attached to the room, but it was right next to the room and huge. It was also not shared with anyone else so that did not bother us. We did not have ac, but we felt we did not need it. The room was great and the price was right. Whatever this place might lack it certainly makes up with the kindness of service. The owners Shamira and Jorge are so nice and accomodating. I will definitely recommend this place, and definitely be back.

We were a group of six who stayed in San Ignacio for 8 nights. Two couples shared the apartment across the street from the hotel which had a kitchen that we all used. The upstairs shared kitchen is also nice, well maintained, and was used by all the other guests. We enjoyed the rooftop terrace as well as the covered terrace at the apartment. The location is convenient to everything in town, all within a short walk. Shamera was a wonderful host who recommended several great restaurants, guides for our trips to Caracol and Tikal, and a canoe adventure down the river. A memorable trip. I highly recommend this hotel for people who want a genuine local experience in Belize.

Room Tip: Not all rooms have air conditioning, so ask if you want to be sure to have it. Didn't need it at...

This place was recommended by the lonely planet book and I agree that it is one of the few hidden and nice places to stay. The rooms were warm, nice, comfortable and affordable. The place has a common kitchen and lounge room with a rooftop patio. Also, Shamera was prompt with answering my emails and super nice! She was always there when we had questions. The only downside to the room was the low pressure from the shower head.
The place is within walking distance to the downtown core of San Ignacio, close to the bus station, restaurant and market. This is definitely a place worth staying at.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Unlike a new hotel with standardized rooms, the Rainforest Haven Inn in San Ignacio, Belize is an antique structure with varying room configurations. It was built as a private home and the three storage building with only seven-bedrooms has a more rustic feel. Each room is unique but aiming to make you feel at home. Rooms are equipped with air conditioned, cable TV, hot and cold bath and free WiFi. What makes us unique is that we are the only accommodation in the downtown area that offers a roof deck pool. Our guests have access to a full kitchen on the third floor which is perfect to make a quick meal, warm your food or make some coffee. We also feature a terrace that has a 360 degrees view of San Ignacio and is a lovely place to have your coffee or a glass of wine in the evening. There is also a beauty shop on the ground floor. The Rainforest Haven Inn also features daily room services for free, car rental services, and laundry services for a fee. We are about a 3-5 minute walk to restaurants, grocery shops, banks, tour agencies, bus terminal etc. Everything is very close without feeling like you are in the thick of it. Our attitude is to treat everyone as an individual and provide them with friendly and respectful service. We are passionate about making you feel at home. ... more   less
