This place is incredibly reasonable and a great jumping off point for trips into town and to Jungle excursions (did Caracol and Crystal Cave). Their tour guides are amazing (Diego is awesome!!). Had a great experience. A nice comfy room with three beds. Food is good, but don't miss taking a taxi into town for great Belizean bites! San Ignacio is a great town! Don't miss it.

I just had another student group stay at Rumors, and they loved it yet again! Of course, with Frankie and Rosy there helming it, I knew they'd have a great stay, all 15 of them. I always like to make sure my student groups stay at a nice location, and that it's not right downtown at the same time. Mission accomplished with Rumors.

It's just a few miles from downtown, so it's easy to get to. The food there is great, and the students always mentioned that the breakfasts were phenomenal. I must say that Frankie and Rosy are very active with the local Rotaract club, and they work with students all the time, so they know exactly how to please them. They went out of their way to help a couple of students that had some bad street food, causing them to have to stay at the hotel all day instead of helping us with the community service projects. Thanks to them for that!

Will I be sending more groups there? For sure! You can't go wrong with Rumors.

My two visits to Rumors have both been excellent experiences. The owners live on-site and are superb hosts. Since there is a restaurant on the property, you can have breakfast, explore Belize all day and relax at the property when you return and have dinner at your room. The food is of high quality, with top-rate service. Making reservations is very easy, as your emails will be answered in a short time. The rooms are very clean and more than adequate furnishings. The views are spectacular in a countryside setting, but also very close to town. I highly recommend Rumors as the place to stay in the Cayo area.

I found this to be a very pleasant place to stay. It's family run and management was very friendly and helpful. For example, they arranged to have breakfast ready for me each day before the restaurant was actually open for service. The accommodations are somewhat basic, but everything was clean and functioned. Plus, it's an easy 5 minute taxi ride to town. My only real complaint is that only some of the rooms have safes--management stored some of my items in the office safe, which was appreciated--and the beds are quite hard.

Stayed one night at the rumors hotel and we were not impressed. We had a premium room but the shower was faulty but when we asked reception for help and we were told that this shower was tricky. They told us we could use another room to shower if we needed to. Also there were no cupboards to store anything, there were no spare blankets and we could hear the tv in the next room. However the bed was comfy and there was a small kitchette in the room.

One of the reasons for booking the hotel was that it had a restaurant which was important as the hotel is a few miles out of town. However, the restaurant was closed and we had some doubts as as to when it would be open. Worse still when we asked about visiting the nearby Mayan ruin of
Xunantunich (our main reason for being there),they did not tell us they were closed due to flooding. We later found out that the ruins had been shut for three weeks.!

Although cheaper than some of the other local hotels it did not represent good value for the US$103 that we paid.

It is a fact that the hospitality industry is a very challenging one as there are many different personalities to deal with and not all of them are always able to be pleased. This, however; is the main reason why customer service and quality accommodations are our major focus at Rumors Hotel.
The guest in this review has voiced his opinion and we will take it as we take all other reviews - constructively.

At Rumors Hotel we are continuously dedicated to improving our facilities. We are a small family owned and operated hotel where guests can feel at home in the closeness of our friendship and hospitality as is reflected in the many great reviews that we have so far. We are very new to the tourism industry (1 year), hence; we are starting slowly and doing the best we can with what we have so far. Most, if not all of our profits are being reinvested into raising our rooms' standards through constant upgrades.

The incident with the shower is indeed lamentable. The previous guests who stayed in this same room (checked out the day before) enjoyed their stay of 7 nights and never complained about the shower faucet even after we constantly asked them if they were having any problems of any kind. They always replied that everything is perfectly fine and expressed their contentment with their room.
This gentleman now, stays with us for ONE night and brings his bad luck along - the shower gave in during HIS use. These things (like everything else) are always prone to wear and tear, it's just a matter of time and this gentleman's timing was unfortunate.
Being that it was late in the night, we couldn't call up the plumber, the least we could do was to offer him the use of a shower in another room or to have him relocated to another room altogether - an offer which he declined and later informed us that he had managed to work out the issue with the faucet when we checked back on him. (it wasn't broken but upon his use, the faucet became loose and started dripping from the knob).

As for the Xunantunich ruins, It would be unfair to hold anybody responsible for the unpredictability of mother nature. When he asked about the ruins on the day of his arrival, our receptionist made a call to a relevant source who told us the site was currently open. Our guest chose to spontaneously visit the site on the following day instead and found out it had just been closed - Again, his bad luck...

As for our restaurant. January is relatively slow. We keep our restaurant open for our hotel guests (for dinner and breakfast). Most of our guests are out on tours during lunch time so there is no need to provide lunch, however; our restaurant is still available for lunch at our guests' request if they are around on a rest day.
We practice asking our guests if they plan on having dinner with us or plan on going into town to experience the different locales there, as many choose to do. This gentleman told us that they were planning on going into town for dinner that night since they had a rental car. The other couple had gone into town as well that night. As stated before, our restaurant caters only to our hotel guests at the moment. We do not currently cater to the locals, hence; if our guests tell us that they do no plan on dining with us on a certain night and there is no one else planning on having dinner at our restaurant, then logically who else is there to keep the restaurant open for? We are onsite 24/7 to address any concerns and provide any services need. If at any time our guests require something from our restaurant or bar, they can inform us and we are always sure to provide. This has never been an issue for our guests.

Our premium rooms DO have a cupboard in the shower and one in the kitchenette. I am not sure how they escaped the eyes of our dear guest.
Our premium room beds all have a mattress protector, a fitted sheet, TWO bedsheets, and one thick feathered duvet cover for extra warmth and comfort. They also have FOUR pillows each. We are taking our guest's comment about the extra blankets into consideration and will, from here on, be putting extra blankets in all of our rooms.

We truly regret to know of our guest's dissatisfaction at our hotel. We cannot always control certain phenomenon or prevent every issue but we do try as much to handle them with great care and attention and are willing to recompense our guests at any costs if necessary. We would have preferred for our guest to spare us this bad review especially given the many positive things we did for him and which he failed to even give us credit for like printing his stock of work and flight info papers at NO COST AT ALL.

I rented a room at this hotel for my boyfriend and I when we were in San Ignacio. The property itself is about a 5-8 minute drive from the city, which is perfect if you are looking for a more intimate setting or privacy.

The woman at the front desk was extremely helpful in providing us with restaurant suggestions, tour recommendations and general advice. She helped with re-scheduling our tour when weather caused some cancelations as well.

The room was basic: AC, refrigerator, closet and desk, and the bed was slightly too firm for my taste. My only grievance was that the water pressure in the shower was terrible. It made taking a shower a longer process than usual.

Beautiful establishment! Nice and clean with everything you need. Our room appeared to be recently renovated. Beautiful tiles throughout and nice decor. We had a blow dryer, mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker in the room. Plus air conditioning and a king size comfy bed, and a balcony. Will definitely stay here again. I was very impressed and surprised at the beautiful setting. Friendly staff as well
