“Loved Windy Hill”

Terry and Jean-Paul are great hosts. They planned our stay and tours, keeping everything flexible. Guides they arranged and quality of tours (ATM cave, Caracol Mayan ruins, Barton Creek canoe trip) were top quality adventures. Our cottage was quiet and comfortable, a short walk to the pool and the thatched roof restaurant. Staff was courteous and friendly, we knew everyone by name. Transfers between WH and Belize City were easy and on time. The town of San Ignacio is nearby with a few very good restaurants. Saturday's market is a must!

Windy Hill is a very nice place to stay and visit the proposed activities. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are big and comfortable. It are authentic bungalows with rocking chairs on the front terrace. The bathroom is simply composed but all essentials are needed: warm water, shower, bath and toilet. They clean every day. If you want a hairdryer you can ask one at the staff and they share it with you. (Just a bit old ;) )
The swimingpool is nice and good maintained. Nice view on fare away hills. A lot of different kind of birds and butterflies dance around you.

The restaurant is simple. The food is ok. We loved the mayan soup :)

We don't recommend to walk to the city. We did it and it's a bit adventurous. It s better to take a cab that is the same rate where ever you go (10 belizian dollar). We liked the fact that the hotel is not located near the city because San ignacio is not the sexiest city in the world.

The tours are well organised. We also checked the rates in the city and at windy hill they were less expensive then anywhere else.

Room Tip: The bungalow with view on the swimmingpool.

If you seek a relaxing getaway surrounding by a beautiful rainforest, this is the place. We had the great pleasure of spending a few days with the wonderful and friendly staff of Windy Hill Resort during the Thanksgiving Holiday. From arrival to departure the staff made us feel as though we were friends and family. Our cabin was just fine as the idea is to sleep in it; not to have a party in it. The food is good, but with a somewhat limited menu. The service is outstanding. I stongly recommend using the Resort to book tours and excursions. Our guide was the best and taught us much about the ruins. Finally, I must emphasize again the staff! What a wonderful group.

Windy Hill is even better than what it looks like online. I was hesitant at first but am so glad that we chose Windy Hill. Each cottage is so charming, private and quiet. We loved waking up and sitting on our patio watching the hummingbirds in peace and quiet. The cottages are very roomy inside. They are all spread out among beautifully landscaped acres. Also, the service we received from EVERYONE at this hotel was top notch. From the breakfast servers, to the people at the front desk, they went OUT of their way to accommodate us. There were truly genuine people that wanted to ensure that we had a wonderful time. We ate at the restaurant on site and each meal was very reasonably priced and delicious!!! Thank you for such a wonderful stay, Windy Hill!

Room Tip: All cabanas look the same from the outside. The only difference is some have AC and some do not. Als...

Nice bungalows at a hill side, with the jungle starting in the backyard. The bungalow was containing 2 double and a single bed. The heating system for the shower is unique, the water is heated by electric directly at the shower head. Nice and clean pool at the lower hill.
Restaurant and lounge are nice open wood made houses. A gym was established in a separate house.
The resort staff was very helpful. As our tour to the Xunantuchi ruins was cancelled by our tour operator due to weather condition, the resort guys organized very quickly a alternative trip to Tikal ruins. I think, Tikal is anyway the better place to go to see the Maya ruins.
Since the resort is outside of San Ignacio you have to take a taxi to the town for 10BZD.

All of what you might expect and like in this tropical environment. Your room will be a private cabin set in the middle of a beautifully landscaped hillside. Each is built entirely of wood with a rustic feel. Beds were reasonably comfortable but matress could have been a little softer. Hot water in shower was not terrific as it was generated by a different system other than normal hot water tank however not all rooms had this "system". Grounds included a well maintained pool overlooking the countryside....NICE! Also a convenient walk to small gym, restaurant and lounge. Staff was excellent always making an effort to insure the comfort of its guests.
One evening it was cold so had to sleep with socks and sweatshirt on .... NO HEAT!
If you don't have a car one must take a taxi (or bus which we did) to town center...too far to easily walk. We visited ruins, enjoyed cave canoeing, played in nearby casino and relaxed in beautiful setting. Would definitely recommend to anyone enjoying the pleasures of nature and rustic settings.

Room Tip: Choose a cabin close to pool and/or lower on hillside near office, restaurant or lounge. Otherwise y...

My group of nine recently stayed four nights at this lovely resort. The management and office employees were tireless in advising us on places to go and providing us with guides that were some of the best I have had anywhere as well as transportation. The restaurant waiters devoted themselves to our needs and unending requests. The cabana was beautiful: large, airy, lovely linens, quiet, with handsome wood floors and ceilings. The infinity pool looked out on the hillside below and the sunset. A place of lovely plantings, great views, and professional management. I would recommend this resort without hesitation based not on just the physical aspects but on the quality of service, unbeatable!

Room Tip: Cabanas are all well located
