“Loved this hotel”
Reviewed 17 April 2014

Stayed at this hotel for four nights with my mom for our annual mother daughter trip. When we first arrived we were a little weary about passing the town and the area of the hotel being two women traveling alone. However after 24 hours of being at the resort we fell in absolute love! The grounds are impeccably kept up and the restaurant was delicious. We really loved the staff at the resort esp elmer, ederson, vanessa and carlos. Extremely helpful and always smiling. The pool is refreshing and the hotel is a 15 minute walk to some ruins. We ate here three time a day on the beautiful balcony overlooking their jungle. we participated in the iguana tour with bert and felt safe and had a lot of laughs. Enjoy the hammock outside and take advantage of the pool, the staff always brought us out free summer drinks while we relaxed!

Room Tip: Get a balcony room, eat at the resort.

My wife and I spent 2 nights at the SI Resort last week and really enjoyed it. The staff was VERY friendly and willing to answer any questions. The grounds and room were very clean. There was a large construction project happening onsite that would have been nice to know about ahead of booking. Some banging and clanging during the day. I think our room was a 'deluxe balcony' and it was small, but sufficient. The hammock on the small private balcony was great! I spent several hours in it. The A/C blew cold even as the temps reached near 100F. We had breakfast and it was good with a nice outdoor dining area overlooking the hillside. The walk to the Cahal Pech ruin which was easy (although along the road). We walked all around the town from the hotel and did a nice little loop over the two bridges. It was fun to watch a guy riding his horse in the river and even standing on it and diving into the water. We did not see any other hotels that looked even close to as nice as this one. The only downside I see is the price. At $200 per night I guess I expected a little more (larger room or perhaps the iguana tour included, or breakfast included. It seemed priced like the USA.

Room Tip: You should definately get a hillside view room If you need something, just ask! I was afraid we...

This was the best place in San Ignacio by far. It was nice to be able to go for a short walk into town in the evenings to sample the food in the local restaurants. The walk back is up a steep hill but a local taxi was only $5.00 Belize. So if you don't feel like walking it is very cheap to get a ride back. The hotel restaurant is also excellent and well worth a try at least once. We ordered room service one night and it was excellent. The concierge was extremely helpful in setting up tours and recommending the best spots to eat. The hotel service was excellent throughout our stay and we could not think of anything that could have been done better.

Room Tip: Our room faced the jungle and it was a magnificent view to wake up to.

We were recently in Belize for the first time to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary. The entire trip was planned with the help of Mariposa Lodge, which was our first destination. We were to leave there the morning of April 5th to travel to Tranquility Bay Resort. To make a long story short, my husband had a medical emergency on our way to Tranquility Bay. He asked that our driver please find somewhere close to a hospital, just in case we needed one. The driver took us to San Ignacio Resort. I cannot express my relief and astonishment at the compassion that was shown when I explained the situation to the front desk staff and they immediately assigned us to a room that was close to the desk so my husband would not have to walk very far. They called a physician for us who came to our room, which is amazing in itself!!! We are very, very blessed! All turned out well, we were able to continue our trip. San Ignacio Resort is definitely the rainbow after our storm. I will never forget the care and compassion we were shown. The entire place is pristine. The pool is amazing and spotless. I do not know the names of the ladies that checked us in and found the physician to help us, but it was the 5th around 11:30 A.M. They both need to be commended! They called three different physicians including a call to one of the physician's wives to find out if he could help us. There were not going to give up until they found help for us.

Room Tip: I am sure all of the rooms are wonderful.

This is a second generation family run hotel and the service is outstanding. Located in the small town of San Ignacio , Belize it is a great stay with an un equalled kitchen which does not disappoint
and I mean the really good food.
They also arrange local tours eg Mayan cities or a river raft etc.
If you are thinking of visiting Belize this is a must stop.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the riverside.

Everywhere we went in Belize we encountered amazingly friendly people. If a passerby didn't greet us, it was because they were tourists. Belize is friendly. And no where was it friendlier than at the San Ignacio Hotel. A gem of a hotel in western Belize is a great home base for exploring Mayan ruins and many other adventures. The hotel hooked us arranged a trip to Tikal in Guatemala (a MUST see b the way) with an incredible guide (Pablo) who was thoroughly educated in all aspects of Mayan history, technology, and culture. Every member of the staff was gracious and helpful. The hotel is going through some renovation, and that usually is a distraction. But the staff's accommodation made it barely noticeable. The hotel also runs an ongoing conservation project raising and reintroducing the endangered green iguanas into the wild. For a modest fee (all of which goes to the project) you get a VERY hands on (literally) introduction to this interesting creature. Ask Bert, one of the young docents, about "Banana" a singular 10 month old iguana. The pool is a real treat after a long hot day adventuring. Arguably the best place to stay in San Ignacio.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room with a balcony facing the jungle and river. An inviting hammock is installe...

Amaris and Marlyn at the reception desk are very friendly, fun, and made me feel very welcome at the hotel. They answered all my questions easily, and made sure I was settled in. The welcome rum punch is fantastic! The pool was refreshing after a very hot day. Would definitely stay here again. Keep up the good work!
