“Bit overrated”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 June 2014 via mobile

Because of our 30-years anniversary we booked this hotel, which is at least double the price we normally stay in.

The deluxe kingsize was a beautiful room, big tv-screen, beautiful bathroom.
Still disappointed, not even a small complimentary bottle of water.
The bathroom had no ceiling, so it's an open connection with the rest of our room.
I didn't enjoy being part of all the sounds and smells from my husband's visits to the toilet, and vice versa.

The bottom of the pool was being cleaned next morning, both they many floating drowned and half-drowned insects were left there floating.

They do provide pooltowels, you are staying out of town but still an easy walk from town.
Still for this price I found it overpriced.

We had a great time here. The facilities were clean and comfortable. The customer service was great. They helped us make our experience one to remember. We were able to book trips to the ruins and ATM cave with ease. Try attending the market on Saturday morning.

Room Tip: Stayed in the Cabanas.

Spent week of May 24-31 , 2014 at Midas Resort. Everyone went out of their way to make sure all my needs were taken care of . Food was fantastic ! Was there for a great day of free food and refreshments on Commonwealth Day in Belize . Rooms were very nice and cleaned spotless . If you are going to Western Belize, Midas is the place to stay . Nice outdoor bar area beside very large pool with waterfall . Bar area features 3 large screen T.V.'s and good music. Very friendly, safe atmosphere . Lots of kids as well as adults enjoying a cool swim in the pool . Can't safe enough good things about this place . Will return soon ! If you are going to see the Mayan ruins, it's only a 20 minute drive to climb one of the largest in Belize and only 10 minutes to ruins on the edge of town . San Ignacio is a great town and within walking distance from the hotel . Felt perfectly safe walking into the village square even though I had unlimited use of my rental car .

Room Tip: You have a choice if staying in cabanas or the main hotel. I have stayed in both and was pleased wi...

Midas Resort proved to be a good choice because of its location and cleanliness. However, there were some negatives. One, our bathroom in the Family Casita had open windows with no curtains so showers, or even using the restroom was extremely difficult. Bad floor plan and bathroom design. Two, the ceiling had holes where the fans were and at night, insects would drop onto my bed.

We have been to Belize the last 3 years and have stayed at Midas each time, We have always been impressed with the cleanliness of the resort. Great breakfast each morning love the fruit platter, especially the watermelon. Great tasting meals in the evening. Midas is a nice walk to downtown and you go right passed the market . Each time we go back to Belize one stay will always be at Midas. Thank you for the all the smiles and friendliness.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 30, with a king sizes bed and balcony. It was a perfect room for us.

Let me preface this by saying I've been to Belize a half dozen times, and have been in the country this time for two weeks. Today I had an absolutely fantastic day in the surrounding country side, but the worst part was coming back to this resort. The staff are friendly, the facility is very nice, but I just had the worst dinner ( garlic grilled fish ) I've ever eaten in this country, all serenaded by the not so pleasant strains of a masonry drill and concrete hammering immediately adjacent to the dinner area. What kind of a clueless management allows construction to happen directly next to the designated supper hour, during eating hours?!!! Yesterday it was the incessant revving up and down, of an engine driven weed wacker, just outside my cottage for a couple of hours will I tried to nap during the heat of the day ( 41 C adjusted for the heat & humidity ). Also, while the small resort grounds are nice and show a nice variety of wildlife passing through, immediately outside and below my cottage window is a semi-active industrial landfill site ( concrete and rubble ) while a lot over to the other side is an active gravel quarry with large diesel engine driven trucks accelerating up and down for most of the work day. When I asked about these adjacent sites I was told "we don't pay attention to what goes on over there". What???!!!! Management better pay attention because it totally erodes their stated "little piece of the jungle" selling point for the place!

Room Tip: Go somewhere else that is not surrounded by construction, weed wackers and industrial landfills.

This is my second time at Midas Resort, San Ignacio. The setting is beautiful. The accommodations in the family cottages are perfect. Great pool and wonderful staff. The resort is easy access to downtown and the market. Close to the river for added relaxation.

Room Tip: I have only stayed in the cottages. They are well equipped for sleeping arrangements, however, tak...
