Las Palmas Hotel Hotel is one of the larger hotels in Corozal and can be the default destination of large traveling groups. The rooms are clean but spartan in decor and furnishings. Our room had a definite insecticide odor but I guess that is better than seeing bugs. The bathroom had 2 shower towels but no hand towels. The air conditioner and overhead fan worked but they were noisy. This hotel was not our first choice (or 2nd) but beggars can't be choosers.

We stayed here for a whole week (Feb. 1-7) and it was exactly what we needed. Very clean, good AC, hot water in the showers, a safe place to park off the street, what more could you ask for! Charlie and his staff were super helpful and nice and we will definitely be staying there again. If you are having to stay in Corozal you cannot do any better than staying at the Las Palmas.

This was my first trip to Belize and more specifically Corozal. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the accommodations were second to none. The hotel was very clean and tidy and the staff were pleasant and helpful. Hats off to Charlie and his staff.

If you are trying to find a decent sized hotel right in Corozal, at a good price, Las Palmas is an excellent place. I joined a group of over 10 Rotarians in February 2013. After checking out several other hotels, Charlie, the owner of Las Palmas, gave our group a fair price for a large group. The facilities are clean and right in town, close to many decent restaurants.

Las Palmas doesn't have a restaurant, but they have a conference room. Since our group needed to get going early each morning, Charlie - the owner - brought in a cook to make our breakfast and pack lunch each day. The price was reasonable and they prepared the type of breakfast we requested. Charlie is an interesting character, and he is responsive and helpful. Being from Ambergris Caye, I found his insights about Corozal helpful. He was always willing to make suggestions on where our group could go, or find a decent restaurant capable of serving us all at one sitting.

The rooms are simple, but clean. The beds are comfortable. We slept very well, as we were in an off street room, so it very quiet at night. Some rooms are larger than others. One of our single group members complained to me about the size of his room. I had read the reviews and asked for a good size room, with two beds, since I was sharing with another person. We told Charlie that we would pay more for a larger room. Our room was decent, and it had a little frig and a microwave. It had both AC and a fan and both worked well. The AC didn't keep us up at night... There is a Chinese store right next door, so you can easily grab food and drinks to go. We kept some things we bought in the little frig.

The wireless is weak in the rooms. So you will need to go to the open area outside of the rooms, by the office, to pick up e-mails or surf the web. Our entire group had IPads and IPhones. We all picked up our e-mail in this open area, which has adequate seating. So after a long day of volunteering we would grab a Belikin and all sit together while doing our internet catch up in the patio area. That worked fine, as the weather was perfect when we were visiting.

My only complaint is that, being on the first floor, we could at times smell the septic tank, since we were on the first floor. This is a common problem I've noticed in hotels in Central America and Mexico. The piping doesn't include the types of traps or backflow prevention valves that are used in the USA. So I'd suggest asking for a room on the higher floors, especially in the hotter months of the year. Otherwise, Las Palmas is a very good value. Charlie did his best to respond to the many special requirements of our diverse group. Our needs kept changing and he managed to keep up with them, although I knew that was not easy to do. This is a good place for a group to stay, overall.

Room Tip: If you want a larger room, as for it. The rooms in the back are quieter, since they are off the stre...

Charlie was a very nice proprietor and very friendly and accomodating. This is a nice facility in a convenient location. The rooms were a bit sparse. No hot water at the sink (but plenty in the shower) and no bath cloth or hand towel (only bath size towels). Also no bedside reading light and no room darkening curtains.
Adequate for my needs, just missed a few 'conveniences'

The staff was very friendly, accommodating, and helpful. It was the nicest place in all of Corozal and is centrally located. The hot water was nice since quite a few places did not offer it. The room service was outstanding, even our clothes were folded.

OUr group of 12 stayed here for 5 days in December and had a wonderful time! We felt super safe and taken care of the whole time. Charles was very attentive to our needs and a great guy to hang out and chat with as well! He really made sure that our group was taken care of, and any little thing would be taken care as soon as it was brought to his attention. It's central location made it easy to go anywhere in town, yet it wasn't noisy either. We will definitely be going back!
