We have been visiting the Corozal area for the past 7 years. On this trip we had originally planned to stay one night in Corozal and and fly over to San Pedro the next morning. We stopped in to the Almond Tree and met Lynn who took us on a tour of the rooms. The rooms were in immaculate condition extremely clean. The Almond Tree is located right on Corazol Bay with a lovely breeze and tropical flowers and trees decorating the grounds. We took a room for one night still intending on going on to San Pedro in the morning. After lounging around the (very clean) pool in the afternoon and friendly conversation with the owners Lynn and Bob we decided San Pedro could wait. We'd found a little slice of paradise right in Corozal Town. We have no reservations recommending the Almond Tree as your best bet for quality lodging in the Corozal area.

Owners Lynn and Bob effortlessly make you feel welcome (with a bit of help from their two dogs, Pepper & Nevada, and their coatimundi, Rocky). After a three-year renovation, the hotel is finally open for business -- and worth the wait. The hotel is impeccably appointed with elegant woodwork and polished concrete. Rooms include spacious closets, brand-new bathrooms, new king beds and air-conditioning. A small beach gives access to Gulf waters, but more enjoyable is the new pool, designed to accommodate both lap swimmers and loungers. As of our stay in April 2010, the restaurant had yet to open with a full menu; but a simple and enjoyable breakfast was available, as well as a bar with local beer on draught.

Pricing was comprable to other local hotels, but the experience far superior.

The Almond Tree Hotel and Corozal made a great base of operations for exploring a full range of Belizean experiences.

I cannot say enough complimentary things about the Almond Tree Resort, the owners, and their staff. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty and our every need was met. Bob and Lynn (owners who live on-site) did everything in their power to make sure we experienced everything we wished during our stay in Corozol-from helping us learn what daily life is like in Corozal (we are considering a permanent move to the area) to introducing us to both locals and US expats in the area, to taking us with them on their errands to go shopping or check out properties, to helping us arrange snorkeling, fishing, and day trips to some of the other tourist spots as well. Their staff Dean, Big Ray, Rocky, and Betsy couldn't have been more willing to assist us with any request, they were always eager to answer all of our questions, and even helped us out by doing a load of laundry for us before we departed for our next destination. And the resort, rooms, and grounds were the most beautiful in Corozal Town by far too-believe me, you will not find better! Not only did we feel like favorite guests while there, by the end of our stay, we also felt like we had made lifelong friends who we can't wait to see again! We were so warmly welcomed by both the owners and staff at the beginning of our 9-night stay with them, and so well taken care of while there, but I believe all of us were a little sad the day we had to say our farewells. We are so thankful to all of them for their assistance with our goal of experiencing what life is like in their area of Belize and we will be looking forward to seeing them all again when we return - which surely won't be soon enough!

Corozal is a quiet fishing village on Corozal Bay. Not yet developed into a 'tourist mecca' like San Pedro or the Cayes.
Almond Tree Resort is by Far and Away the nicest vacation retreat in the area. The boutique hotel is small with maybe 6 to 9 rooms. All the furnishings and finishings were of top quality design. I believe all the rooms have air conditioning available, although the breeze and ceiling fan were sufficient. The pool area was beautiful and crystal clear. There was Internet wi-fi available, it did not come in good in our room, but was easily accessible in all of the common areas and pool.
Lynn and Bob have done a wonderful job with the new resort and are working on opening the bar and restaurant. Lynn had coffee for us each morning and cooked us breakfast to order each morning. Dean and Ray were so sweet to work with and bring us cocktails by the pool. Betsy made up our room each day and also did one load of laundry for us during our 1 week stay.
We would highly recommend this 5 star boutique resort. Children are welcome but it is more of an adult sanctuary and quiet retreat.

This beautifully appointed owner-operated boutique hotel offers guests affordable yet upscale accommodations, with a breath-taking view of the torquoise waters of Corozal Bay. Walking into the grounds you are immediately at ease in the serene tropical gardens adjacent to a glistening inground pool. The lobby and restaurant area is reminiscent of a Tuscan villa where golden hues blend with natural hardwood, overlooking the sea. Regular rooms rent for $85 U.S. per night. Suites with small kitchens are available as well. The owners, Lynn and Bob, live on the premises and are the most gracious of hosts, make sure you let them know your particular needs and they will make every effort to accommodate you. The location is an easy bike ride from the bustling town of Corozal, if you do not have a vehicle. The restaurant has just opened with a limited menu of gourment pizza and delectable desserts made on site, with plans to expand the menu in the coming months. The grounds, restaurant and bar are accessible by wheelchair; however, climbing stairs is required to reach the rooms and suites.

My husband and I stayed at Almond Tree for 2 nights. It is a 2 hr. drive from the airport in Belize City or a 5-minute jaunt from Corozal airport. When we arrived, Lynn & Bob (the owners - from USA) greeted us along with Pepper and Navada, their 2 dogs, in addition to their coatimundi, Rocky. Rocky looks like a cross between a racoon and an anteater - very cute!! They showed us to our room which was very spacious and decorated quite lovely. The bathroom was lovely with a large shower and beautiful hand-painted sink. The only complaint was from my husband who did not like the fact that the walls are open at the top in the bathroom (they do not go all the way to the ceiling). It did not bother me, but he likes total privacy (I just left the room & played with the animals when he wanted bathroom time). The pool is fabulous although we did not have time to use it as were were out looking at property in Belize. Lynn was very kind to have coffee/tea and a plate of cut-up mango for us each morning. Since we did not feel like having a hot breakfast from Tony's down the road, she was so nice to let us have a bowl of granola. They are not officially open for food dining, but it looked as though they are very close to having that in place. Their B&B is right on the water and it was extremely relaxing to see the Bay of Chetumal right out our bedroom door or while we were eating breakfast or just strolling the property. They have done a beautiful job of turning a grown-up shell of a place into a truly beautiful property. I loved the furniture and art work. I believe you will enjoy it - especially if you love animals. I would go back just to visit their pets!! Lynn and Bob were fabulous hosts. If I went back to Corozal, I would not stay anywhere else!
