“Best place in the Free Zone”
Reviewed 12 August 2014 via mobile

In this visit got the opportunity to check out the almost open huge Las Vegas Hotel, In the hand of the General Manager Sr. José Vázquez , who's always more than kind. Al lets say the gym is state-of-the-art equipment, the rooms are all-American made, the expresso and coffee shop are just nice. The pool and jacuzzy area are clean and just ready to take a dive. Once the place is fully operational is going to be the main attraction in the Free zone. Regards to the always kind and helpful Mr. George H.

This partially open hotel is in the Free Trade Zone, an area catering to shoppers from Mexico looking for discounts. While the staff is attentive and the restaurant is better than one might expect, the experience is very weird. The main attraction must be the casino which was doing a modest trade on my visit. Most of the hotel is not yet open, the pool is closed and there are few if any other guests. We were housed in an annex behind the main building. Guests are trapped between the Mexican and Belize border crossings and have no access to any shopping, restaurants or point of interest unless they cross one of the two borders. There are fairly stiff fees for each crossing and a great deal of interrogation by border guards who have no idea what to do with guests from the hotel. To go see a Mayan ruin further in Belize involved fumigating the car, buying Belize car insurance and getting a car permit. After long discussions with various customs officials, we were allowed to keep some of the car papers for the next day for another excursion into Belize proper. The hotel could be good as a one way stop into Mexico or Belize, but otherwise, stay away.

Room Tip: All rooms are in the back annex. The hotel is not open.

My husband and I took his mother here for a night travelling from Mexico to Belize. The rooms were clean and beds comfortable. These are typical soulless rooms somewhere to get a good nights sleep.

The restaurant tries to cater for far too many specialities from Indian, Chinese, Mexican, Italian and European food therefore too much on the menus to specialise making the food average and the service was pretty poor.

The casino is what you would expect from any casino, free drinks whilst playing, plenty of tables and slots. ...Great fun.

This little hotel was recommended to us by a friend so we decided to try it out. I am glad we did. The room was excellent, with nice comfy beds, flat screen T.V. and A/C . My wife especially liked the fact that it has a coffee maker and an ironing board and iron. The food at the casino was great and very affordable. We had a great time and will definitely stay here on our next trip to Chetumal. We had intended to stay in Chetumal for the weekend and find a hotel there. It was recommended to us that we drive back across the Mexican boarder after our day trip to Chetumal but we were not so sure we wanted to do that however with the new setup at the boarder now on the Mexican side the boarder crossing was a breeze. We drove back across the border and stayed at this hotel then went back across the next day to finish our trip. It was well worth it. A good night’s rest is always worth it.

When it come to excellence in the hotel experience George Hardie's Las Vegas Hotel & Casino tops every hotel I have ever been. The hotel has the perfect location at the border of Belize and Mexico making it ideal for guests to have dual experience from 2 wonderful countries. I must say the staff are friendly beautiful people well trained making my stay there so warming and welcoming I wish I didn't have to leave they go all out for their guest making you as comfortable as possible. Everyone wears a smile and are always willing to help. And the food oh the food exquisite and top of the line cuisines served to you with super speed by pleasant dining staff. The location of this hotel is perfect with arms reach for shopping in the free zone or just relaxing in the casino. Helpful Tip if you need help making decisions on where to go and what to do ask the staff section of staff they will find a way to help you. Special thanks to the Security team getting me back to my room safely 3am :) and the tips on where to shop in the free zone for the best bargains.

Room Tip: The best rooms for me was at the Garden suites they have a view of the pond and the pool. In additio...

We stayed for two nights for a professional meeting and found the staff incredibly hardworking and attentive. It is clear they are trying hard, and it leaves a great impression.

The hotel is very clean and in many areas new and still being built.

Stayed at hotel for one night during our trip to Belize. Hotel was right across the Mexican border in the free zone of Belize. Hotel staff was very friendly at check-in and at the resort restaurant. Hotel looks fairly new with a new wing set to open in early June. We stayed in the Garden building and were very happy with the accommodations. Rooms are fully equipped with large comfortable beds, new linens and towels, coffee maker, flat screen TV and high end toiletries in bathroom. In the hotel/casino itself there were many slot machines (that took both Mexican peso and Beleizian currency) along with table games (BJ, roulette, craps etc.). The hotel restaurant was excellent. It had several menus to choose from (Indian, Chinese, Mexican and American - they also had a small selection of sushi). Our group tried something from each menu and was very pleased with the food. One thing to consider was, the portion sizes were very large. I had an order of fried rice that I think could feed 3-4 people. Next time we will know to split dishes between people. It is a very short drive to the Belize border crossing which made it very convenient to continue our trip into Belize. Overall this was a very good selection and we will return during our next trip to Belize
