My husband and I spent 10 days in Belize on our honeymoon and were so impressed by the beautiful sights, friendly people and superb customer service we encountered everywhere, except at the Paradise Resort. We are not needy people by any means and are easy to please, but found this hotel (not resort) to be very lacking. The hotel itself is one of the nicest in Placencia and the rooms are beautiful and spacious, but our travel agent described it to us as "right on the beach". The "beach" is a boat dock that is covered by sand--no swimming there. To find a beach chair and swimming area, you have to walk around the point (~1/2 mi) and go to one of the other resorts. The staff were generally friendly, but the wait for service was poor--we had the all-inclusive package (no drinks) and couldn't get another drink if we wanted--the bartender was too busy talking with the locals or watching tv. Each morning I had to remind the bartender that I ordered juice with my breakfast (best juice ever!). We noticed on our first day that the AC was leaking water into the light fixture directly below it, and no one was able to fix it (they ended up putting a bowl underneath it, leaving it for us to empty several times a day, not to mention not being able to use the light). The repair man also repeatedly walked into our room without knocking (we were home), one day the room was not visited by housekeeping at all,and the hot tub on the roof had red scum along the water line.
Placencia is the most commercialized area we visited in Belize (Belmopan, Dangriga), with a pretty town, many gift shops, fantastic ice cream shop, and interesting day trips. Beside being one of the most updated hotels in the area, I don't have many good things to say about the Paradise Resort. I'd return to Belize in a heartbeat, but not to this hotel.

What a wonderful stay we had at the Paradise Hotel!! We had one of the two upstairs rooms with a balcony....the water is just below your balcony. The room was beautiful with lovely tile, coffee maker, microwave, small fridge, etc and a beautifully tiled bathroom. Very clean and fresh. The staff at this hotel makes you feel like family. We enjoyed the other guests, the food, our tours...it was great. Rafael..Raffie, our guide, bartender...and now friend was the best. Nazlee in the office, William, and Andre were all such warm, friendly people. And Alan, the owner, was very kind, very friendly.
This might not be the best hotel for entertaining small children, but for us it was perfect. We enjoyed sitting on the roof and reading in the late afternoon and watching the big boats that had dropped anchor for the night, walking up to the ice cream parlor, and just visiting the other guests and staff. And of course, the staff will take care of your tours...just let them know what you would like to do and it will be taken care of. The perfect place to relax and unwind.
Also, this hotel is right in the village so that you can walk to restaurants, bars, the grocery, pharmacy, ice cream parlor, etc. Many of the other nice hotels are MUCH further away, much too far to walk. I did not see ANY other hotel right in the village that I would have wanted to stay in. This hotel is very safe, very clean, very friendly. Again, perfect for us!!

I can not sya enough about everyone at this place, they were warm, welcoming, personable, and helpful. We arrived there to find that our room type had been switched from a seaview spot to a standard room inside the hotel. Within 2 minutes of mentioning this to our hostess Nezlie, my wife and I were switched to a top floor apartment with a balcony facing the ocean. Mr. Allen, as he is called, is always around chatting and making sure that everyone is well attended to without the slightest pressure to spend money with them, in fact, one night he recommended that we head to the bar next door to enjoy a wedding reception where much of the local folks were were imbibing and dancing the night away. The property is always very clean and has all the modern amenities you could want. The staff there is just as good especially Rafael (aka HArry Potter) the bartender and Andre the dive guide.

Paradise found. Everything was great and the staff was magnificent. Location made it a hideaway on the water but close enough to walk the town. Free use of bikes and kayak kept us around for longer than we planned as we paddled out to islands, biked the town, fished off the piers and ate wonderful food. (Chicken burritos were a staple food).
Happy hour driinks were same price as beer in the supermarket! Rooms were immaculately clean and all our needs were taken care of and some even anticipated before we knew what we wanted.
Wi-fi or use the resort computer. Prices were far better than anywhere on the island for the luxury and care we received. Can't wait to go back and chill out all over again.

My old university roommates and I stayed at Paradise for 2 weeks just after Christmas. Our travel agent arranged a full meal plan (no drinks though), accommodations, and day trips, including scuba diving, snorkeling, Mayan ruins and jungle treks. All of the staff were fantastic - friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, and very easy to talk to; even the kitchen staff was willing to make us meals not on the menu and the cleaning staff did our laundry. The hotel was very clean, and air conditioned rooms were a big asset. The rooftop hot tub made relaxation complete. The village is generally a very quiet place but if you ask where to go at nights there is always something happening at a bar or nightclub. Scuba diving in Belize is one of the best sites in the world. and there is a plethora of wild life all around.

I would definitely return and recommend this to anyone.

My wife and I stayed at the Paradise Resort in December 2009 and loved every minute of it! The owners and all the staff were exceptional... very friendly, warm and helpful. The entire facility is meticulously kept and attention to detail seems to be the motto. The resort is peaceful and quiet and is just a few minutes walk from the village.

If you're wanting to treat yourself and your family, we would certainly recommend you check out Paradise Resort!

Modern, well designed, and managed by a truly gracious hostess, Tiphany Gongora. Said to have been extensively remodeled earlier in 09, the rooms are very nice. But it's the service that makes this joint. Hard to find, and off the beaten path, they will loan you a bike, give you a lift in the golf cart, cook your catch; you name it. Well worth the effort to find.
