Three Iguanas Villa
Reviewed 14 March 2013

A beautiful, peaceful, relaxing atmosphere embraces you from the moment you arrive. I occupied the rooftop suite with an amazing view of the lagoon and it's spectacular sunsets. I enjoyed humming birds buzzzing about my head while soaking up some much needed Vitamin D. The sun was hot and the breeze upon the roof top perfect. The roof top pool adds a particularly lovely touch to cool down, just to heat up. Or you can descend to the lagoon for a mild refreshing ocean swim. There is a gas grill, sink and fridge up top as well. So drinks and snacks are always handy. You can make grocery purchases and access the bank 5 mins away.

Well you would think it doesn't get much better than that. Yet. Just a 5 min bike ride or golf cart ride into town and you will find nothing less than world class dining. Some of the very best dining experiences I have a doubt can be topped. When combined with the tropic beach village appeal, fresh fresh fresh food, with carribean twist and turns. Such as my favourite Ceviche , which is offered in as many ways one can imagine.
The beach is a 7 min walk up to the main road, across it, and a straight on through. Grab a coconut tree for a bit of shade cause that suns hot baby!
Sophia and Stephano were never far if a question need answered. They offer a familiar and home like atmosphere.
This is my second visit to The Three Iguanas Villa. I will most definitely return again.

Room Tip: The roof top if you are solo or a couple is perfect. The middle level is perfect for a larger group...

We were two couples sharing the second floor suite at 3 Iguanas. The spacious layout was perfect for us and the hospitality of our hosts outstanding. They say location, location, location and you could not have asked for a more central starting point for a multitude of day trips around this most inviting, interesting and growing area of Belize. Renting a golf cart gave us the ability to see the area in a way we never could have on foot. All in all a very comfortable accommodation.

Four couples got together at 3 Iguanas five years ago when it just opened and we had a great time. It's a beautiful villa on the lagoon close to the sea. easy walking distance to stores, restaurants and bars. This year we got together with one of the initial couples and two new ones and once again had a great week. Everyone enjoyed the weather, water, walks and full evenings of fish, lobster, Belikan, wine and sangria. Actually music at the various venues in town was better than remembered so we danced more this time...
Placencia is a nice village for either doing next to nothing or going out every night to socialize. Three Iguana's is perfectly situated to give you that choice.

Room Tip: The 3rd floor suite is great for a single couple. The main [2nd] floor 2 bedroom plus living area is...

I have been twice to Placencia where Stefano made certain all the little things to make my stay were cheerfully done and I want to go back..a lot! My husband and I stayed in the property adjacent to this one in November and it was quite lovely too. This time I came back to Placencia to check out more of Placencia .

Room Tip: Stefano will not steer you wrong. I have stayed in three of his properties and been very pleased.

One of the highlights of this place is the property manager, Stefano, a charismatic Italian who was very accommodating. We called the day of our stay to make a reservation, and Stefano prepared the place for us with very little notice. The downstairs apartment where we stayed was not perfectly clean, but I understand that we did not give much time for the staff to prepare it adequately.

We did wish we had been able to stay in the third floor apartment, with its incredible view of the lagoon and the mountains. We were still able to enjoy the incredible view by ascending to the rooftop terrace with plunge pool. It was incredibly peaceful!

Other pros:
-Bike usage: The villa offers four bikes for its clients to use, and this was excellent for traveling anywhere in the village.
-Location: It's in the heart of Placencia but away from the noisy main street.
-Service: Not only did Stefano make a way for us to stay there, but he even lent us his personal DVD player so we could watch movies during our stay! He also made sure that we had cooking utensils for inside and outdoor cooking, though we didn't make use of them.

(Minor) cons:
-Cleanliness: As stated above, the downstairs apartment was not so clean, but we would expect differently if we had made arrangements earlier.
-Windows: Since it was cool in January, we wanted to sleep with the windows open. However, when we tried to open the windows, they wouldn't stay open.
-Shower: The shower didn't have a shower curtain, which was strange. The water spilled out onto the floor (minimally.)

On a side note, the second floor was absolutely beautiful and felt like a luxurious villa. I'd recommend the second and third floor if possible, but we were still quite pleased with the first floor. The prices are also quite reasonable for the location and quality of the accommodation compared to other places we've stayed on the peninsula.

Room Tip: Third floor has the best view, second floor is most spacious, first floor has a television in the se...

We stayed at the Three Iguanas while we were backpacking and decided to indulge and stay at Stefano's villa. We arrived very late at night due to delayed transportation and Stefano was very accommodating and understanding. We had a beautiful and charming room on the top floor with a little outdoor pool overlooking the lagoon. The villa had the perfect balance of modernity and coziness and was very centrally located. We had a wonderful stay at the villa and felt like we were staying with a family, as Stefano and Sophia made us feel completely at home. We would definitely go back!

My family stayed at Three Iguanas Villa and had a great time. Stefano and Sofia were very hospitable, professional and very reliable. They helped to make the stay enjoyable and relaxing because they were always on hand to take care of any issues we had. The house is beautiful, met the needs of my extended family and they have gone taken measure to keep it in good condition. Definitely would go back to Three Iguanas when visiting Placencia again!
