stayed at the maya lodge in august 2011 for the second time, and once again it proved to be an exellent value. we weren't sure where we were going to stay this time when we drove into placencia, but after quick call to stefano (one of the most honest, hard working guys around) we were in. he met us at the house in 3 minutes flat, and got us all set up, luckily it wasn't booked. the maya lodge is perfect for three guys. it's a beautiful place on a canal built with belizean hardwoods and locally crafted furnishings. the fully stocked kitchen was the perfect place to cook a big breakfast every morning to get us started for the day, and performed just as well after hours when the blender, fresh fruit, and caribbean rum hit the bar.
