Helena is hardworking and a pleasure to talk to while waiting for your cinnamon roll to cool! Don't miss this experience.

My girlfriend and I stayed in Placencia for five days and Miss Goodies became a daily stop for us as we both absolutely loved it. While the banana cake, carrot cake and cookies are all serviceable, the real highlight are the cinnamon rolls. They are basically Cinnabon style but made in small batches by Helena herself each morning. They are good, good, good!

Having stayed in Placencia almost a week, I quickly realized that this was a "locals" place, sustained during the non peak seasons by a locals only crowd. Even at other restaurants, you'll overhear people talking about going to get some of the cinnamon rolls before she runs out, which she always does! At $5 BZD for a cinnamon roll with coffee ($2.50 USD) it's real value for money. Is the coffee the strongest? No, but it's decent enough for the amount charged.

Do yourself a favor and talk to Helena for a bit as she is one amazing woman. The more we talked to her, the more we were in awe. Placencia wouldn't have been the same without Miss Goodies!

We stayed very close to this lovely place and we stopped there frequently to get carrot cake and banana cake. The owner/baker of the food was always quite nice and always polite to us. I am not normally a banana or carrot cake fan but these goodies were awesome!!! I didn't try the cinnamon rolls but they looked great as well. Stop here and try it for yourself. On a side note if you get bit by sand fleas that it not the fault of this place. The person that commented on that needs a reality check to say the least. It's a great snack place. :-)

Good coffee, good baked items, interesting and pleasant hostess/owner, nice cottage, open early am - what's not to like?

This 56 year old backpacking lawyer spent 3 days in Placencia, found this first morning, went back each day. Some nice zen here to start the day. Between University of British Columbia which sells 15,000 cinamon buns a day, and Christine's on Blackcomb mountain at Whistler, thought I'd met the gold standard. These were serious rivals. No better beginning to your day in Placencia.

Helene the owner definitely makes the best Goodies, the coffee is good too! Her cute, clean, yellow cabana is towards the southern end of the concrete path affectionately known as the world’s skinniest main street. You have the choice of indoor or outdoor seating on her covered deck and there is usually someone else around to chat with, visitors and locals alike.
Her cinnamon buns are great value at $2BZ and are big enough to be shared! Carrot cake and banana bread both with yummy icing are $4BZ for a big piece, all excellent value!
What really makes a visit there is Helene herself, she is lively, knowledgeable and always willing to share what she knows of the area, she gave us excellent recommendations for staying in San Ignacio.
If you do manage to get out of bed to watch the sunrise on the beach at 5.30 am, you can pop in right after for breakfast! It’s a perfect way to start the day. Be warned though she closes for lunch, we were caught out a couple of times when the yen for goodies hit. Good news is everything is available for takeout. We will be back.
