The rooms are wonderful and beautiful. The staff was very helpful and attentive. The dive shop and dive crew they brought in to do daily excursions is one of the best we have had. And a Snorkel Guide? First time we have ever experienced that! I would recommend this combination of three restaurants and a dive shop to anyone looking for a great week experience in a first class establishment. Thanks for going the extra mile every day. Don't forget to visit the Mayan Ruins. We thought it would limit our diving, but it added to the trip and there was plenty of diving.
Food at all restaurants exceeded expectations. Thanks to all for a great week.

Room Tip: There were no bad rooms but facing the ocean is great.

Although this area of Belize is not what you may expect for a resort town, Robert's Grove is the best hotel on the peninsula. The experience in Placencia is authentic, and Robert's Grove is a nice sanctuary if you are looking for a little taste of both the real and vacation. Only criticism is that the bar near the pool was never open and everything (like the rest of Placencia) closes at 9:30 or 10pm, and it is three hours by car from Belize City (although you can fly on local airlines to Placencia). Also, Wifi is AWFUL. Highly recommended.

Every RG experience was positive, from booking through the end of our stay. We liked that the resort offers numerous excursion that can be scheduled to start and end at the resort, we did not just want to sit on the beach, eventhough that would have been enjoyable as the resort grounds and pools are beautiful and well maintained. We booked kayak river tour, Monkey River tour, Myan ruin tour and fishing trip, all originating from the resort. As part of our trip, RG also booked us a two (2) day trip to Flores, Guatemala for touring the Tikal Myan site. Their companion resort (Hotel Camino Real Tikal) was very comfortable and the Tikal experience was an added bonus to our trip. All staff were very accomodating, if you needed anything it happened. All tour guides were personable, well trained and licensed. Meals and drinks at both locations were very good as we expected from previous travelers reviews. RG Chef staff went as far as preparing our fishing trip catch numerous ways and served us family style in the seaside restaurant, very enjoyable and tasty. We would recommend spending time at RG and Placencia pennisula.

I stayed at Robert’s Grove (RG) as part of my honeymoon. We choose this resort because it away from downtown Placencia and more laid back than our earlier stay in San Pedro.
The grounds around the resort are beautiful. There are lots of plants and vegetation but not overgrown. There are both cement and sand paths through the resort. The various pools are very picturesque with great views of the beach.
RG has three restaurants, Seaside, Sweet Mama’s, and Habanero Mexican Cafe. We ate at all the restaurants and enjoyed the food very much. Compared to restaurants in Placencia the prices were a little more but perhaps that is to be expected for resort quality restaurants. Our favorite is Sweet Mama’s because it is close and authentic. Habanero has good food but is a short walk across the main road. Seaside has tasty food but seems to cost more over the others. The continental breakfast at Seaside is a benefit we really enjoyed waking up to. Along with the food the bar at Seaside is great. The bartenders are quick and make strong tasty drinks. The resort has a nice looking bar on their dock that extends from the property. I was a little disappointed to find it unmanned or open most of the time except for a scheduled event. Outside of that, the dock is a great place for looking at the stars or thunderstorms off shore.
Our room was nice and clean. We had a main bedroom with two cabinets and a bedroom. Inside of one of the cabinets was a safe for the room. Oddly though, the safe did not have a lock on it. Nothing of ours was taken, nor did we feel our belongings to be unsafe. Another strange thing about the room is the placement of the refrigerator. After looking in the main room/bed room I stumbled upon it under the sink in our bathroom and turned off. I cannot recall any other hotel I have stayed at having a fridge in the bathroom. The room also had double doors leading to a deck. The view from our room was not much but a great place to relax at night. One slight problem with the deck was the doors would shut from the outside. The doors had to be locked and shut from the inside. Other than these characteristics the room was cool and comfortable. We had a HD TV with many channels including digital HD channels. The bed was soft and spacious.
Once thing I certainly will not forget about Robert’s Grove is the staff. Everyone we met from the restaurants to the front desk were very helpful. They helped us book an excursion, get taxis into town, and arranged a shuttle to the airport.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at RG and wished we could have stayed longer. Outside of town the restaurants are great and the service is top notch.
