“Fantastic few days right outside Placentia”
Reviewed 1 March 2013

My husband and I were very happy to find this great retreat, not far by bicycle from the town of Placentia. We stayed 4 nights with Annie and Gary and their faithful K9 companions Marley and Brandy. Beautiful new pool was especially welcome in the heat. Annie arranged for two tours for us she is quite the cook as well. We ate two dinners at the resort, Yellow tail snapper and chicken cordon blue - both amazing. There was an abundance of birds and their beautiful calls. Loved it. Fan cooled room was more than sufficient, even for Alaskans! I would recommend this place over the hot village.

Room Tip: Our room was was on the corner facing the beach, which was nice with screened windows on three sides...

After spending almost a week in San Pedro I was lucky enough to stumble into Miller's Landing on my trip to Placencia. The hosts Anne & Gary are a wonderful break from the more commercial and touristy spots in Belize. I think they have been on Placencia for more than 15 years so they have a perspective that is certainly unique to the area where most hotels and resorts change hands every couple of years. While I experienced their most modest accommodations they have a variety of open air cabanas. Their property is lovely, quiet and you have a beautiful beachfront 100 ft. from your door (I managed to spend a solid 4 hours in their beautiful pool too). Anne's pizzas are some of the best in Belize and both Gary and Anne work hard to make sure that you are enjoying your stay. This is a great spot to stay if you want to get away from the throng of tourists found in other areas and to experience the quiet beauty that is becoming harder and harder to find in Belize's popular destinations. Don't come to Miller's landing if you want to experience Miami Beach and an uptight vibe. If you're laid back and want to just chill for a little while you'll fit right in.

We had a wonderful time at Millers Landing. A nice quite hotel in Placencia. We came here to relax after our backpack trip through Guatemala and Belize and relaxing is what we did!

Waking up with the sounds of the so many different birds was amazing and a good way to start the day. After cycling with the bikes (we could use for free), coming back from the monkey town trip or just doing nothing, cooling down in the pool or the sea of Placencia after a hot day was more then welcome.

The room we stayed in was real nice and clean. long story short. A good place to stay for a while!

Anne and Gary thank you for taking so good care of us and the wonderful stay at this hotel in Placencia.

Greetings
Jelte and Kelly

Spent 4 nights here and loved it. The beautiful grounds that have much of the native vegetation left encourage many birds and butterflies, to this beautiful spot. There were many blooming trees, shrubs and orchids in the grounds. The rooms were rustic but very clean and comfortable. We were never hot with the trade winds off the ocean and fans in room. The pool and beach were both lovely and they have kayaks and bikes you can use during your stay. We cycled into Placencia and Seine Bight. Anne and Gary set up some wonderful tours for us to Monkey River and the Coxcombe Reserve. We had delicious breakfasts of homemade granola, tropical fruits, coffee or tea and Anne's wonderful baking each morning, and had dinner here three nights which was excellent. There are also good bars and restaurants within walking distance if you want to try other places as well. This is not your standard ( plastic) hotel but a very relaxing piece of paradise.

We were looking for a quiet spot to spend our Christmas vacation in Placencia, and Miller's Landing turned out to be just perfect! We had a great time hanging out in the hammocks by the pool, trying sea kayaking just off the property and munching on Annie's pizza (which was absolutely delicious)! Having a car with us, we were able to head out on most nights and try some of the amazing restaurants around and also the addictive gelato from the famous place in town. Miller's Landing is not your standard sterile, luxurious resort - it's a lovely family operation with a plenty of personality. The beds were comfy and we didn't miss the AC at all (the breeze cooled our room right down). We would definitely stay here again!

After driving all day through the mountains, we had no idea where our friend was taking us. Annie and Gary have created a very beautiful and peaceful spot. Everyone in our party (6) were treated like kings and queens with fabulous tropical drinks, unique conversation and had some of the best pizza we have ever eaten. Rooms were spacious and well stocked and it's open air concept kept the room cool and comfortable as the tropical ocean breezes filled the room. We woke to the beautiful sounds of birds and ocean waves hitting the beach. The sunrise was spectacular and was followed by some great Belizean coffee, homemade banana bread and choice of fruits. We would truly recommend this spot to anyone.

Our group of 11 people had spent 7 days inland working in a school - a life changing experience! We had booked the entire property of Miller's Landing Resort for our group to spend 4 days debriefing our time at the school. The setting was perfect. The rooms are rustic and the property has a wonderful eco-feel to it. We were able to spend the uninterrupted time we needed each morning.

Anne is a very gracious and giving hostess. She provided wonderful breakfasts for us each morning. We opted to not eat most of our evening meals at Miller's as we wanted to both explore other restaurants and to save money by preparing simple sandwiches some evenings. Anne was more than understanding. Our one evening meal that we did have at Miller's was very good!

Our only concern was that during our evenings in the dining building, we were at times interrupted by Gary, Anne's husband. He insinuated himself into our conversations. Unlike most proprietors Gary crossed that boundary between host and guest which made us somewhat uncomfortable.

I have rated Miller's Landing as very good because it met so many of our needs. I would suggest to others planning to stay at Miller's that an early establishment of guest/host boundaries would probably help.
