My boyfriend and I just got back from The Placencia Hotel. Overall, we add a good time.
FOOD: The food at the Pier (buffet restaurant) was good although redundant. Although the bistro offers few selections, the food there is better than at the buffet.
STAFF: The staff was nice but some basic organisational skills were lacking (e.g. we were not always informed about the tours/oudoors activities updates).
HOTEL: The hotel is clean and well maintained, but there is absolutly no little extra like most hotels in South America/the Caribbean do. For those who wants to party, this is not the place to go. With a maximum of 90 or so guests at the time and no show presented besides some local music groups at the buffet restaurant twice a week, the Placencia is just a place to relax.
BEACH/WATER: Beach, diving and snorkeling lovers, beware! This is not a place for you. The water is muddy most of the time, seaweeds grow prominently and the sand is rough. An average of 1:30 hour is required to reach a nice diving point. This was a huge dissapointment for most travellers that were at the hotel with us.
