“A great place to stay right on the beach!”
Reviewed 20 February 2014 via mobile

We stayed at the Ranguana Lodge Jan 29, 30, and 31/14 and it was great! We were in the Triggerfish Cabana which is on the beach (as is the Parrot Fish Cabana). The room was clean and there is lots of hot water. There is a nice little porch with a table and chairs and, of course, a hammock! The internet didn't quite make it to our room but it's available in the office. The beach is beautiful and very clean. As noted by other reviewers, the neighbouring bars can be quite noisy but we just turned our fan on at night and it muffled most of the noise. Rodesia at the front desk is very nice and helpful. (Tip: If you want to see bats, stand on the sidewalk just after dark at the Ranguana Lodge sign! It's really fun! We took slow motion video of them with the new I-phone!)

We spent two nights and enjoyed the location. Beach front cabin-type rooms were simple, yet clean and well maintained. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Location is good. The Barefoot Bar next door can be loud late into the night, but we were okay with that.

Room Tip: Think there are only about five cabins altogether, three beach-side and two larger ones behind. Any...

Had the great fortune of renting a cabin for a week complete with kitchen! It was off season so it was right around $50-60/night. A short walk down the Narrowest Main Street in the World(sidewalk) to the local restaurants and bars. More on the north end of the village it is away from the din of the outdoor bars. On the beach it's an excellent location.

Room Tip: Best breezes in cabins directly on the beach.

I recently spent three nights at the Ranguana Lodge and found it to be a great place to stay. It is about a ten minute walk up the Sidewalk from the waterfront, almost next door to the D'Tatch restaurant to one side and the Barefoot Bar on the otherside. Should the stress of relaxing in one of the hotel loungers on the beach prove too much it was easy to make your way in either direction for sustenance. The stretch of beach out front is probably one of the best beaches in all of Belize (I was in Caye Caulker for four days before coming to Placencia) with white sand and safe swimming right in front of your cabin.
The ocean front rooms have a coffee maker, fridge and microwave while the garden rooms have all of that plus more kitchen facilities to prepare a more complete meal if you wished. The rooms are clean and provide basic accommodation, a comfortable bed, a tiny bathroom with shower and a patio overlooking the beach at a reasonable price.
Joy and Rodesia in the front office were extremely helpful with various airline and taxi reservations, looking after luggage that arrived late and answering the many questions a group of seven has.

We stayed in the cabanas on the beach. Beautiful and you can't beat the location. Adjacent to two bar/restaurants and along the walkway along the beach in the center of town. The staff were nice and Edwardo was night security. I felt safe. They were painting and staining and upkeep was great.

We so enjoyed our stay with our cabin RIGHT on the ocean. It was so relaxing hearing the sounds of waves and feeling the ocean breezes. Great location. Rodesia was very helpful. Room was clean. Showers hot. Love the colors of the buildings.

Room Tip: Good location within Placencia.

We recently stayed at the Ranguana Lodge for four nights. I had always wanted to stay there and am glad we did. We stayed in the Parrot Fish cabin. It was clean and the beds were comfortable. If you are looking for an inexpensive place to stay and don't mind very low key it is great. Tiny fully equipped bathroom, and a little kitchenette set up with microwave, fridge and coffee pot. Right on the beach with a great hammock on the porch. Air conditioning, which works really well and a great floor fan. We were there when it was VERY hot, and the air conditioning really helped. It would have be awful without. The ladies in the office were very nice and the housekeeper was great. One caveat. The Tipsy Tuna and the Barefoot Bar and right next door. In the low season it was fine, as far as noise, but at night it may get very loud during the high season. Be prepared to wear ear plugs or to join the party at the bar. If you want to have 12 steps to the beach and don't need luxury this is the place.

Room Tip: The Parrot fish cabin is furthest from the bars and might be a little quieter.
