“Pretty cabanas with sea view”
Reviewed 4 June 2014 via mobile

Ranguana Lodge is a great place to stay in Placencia. Within 5 min you can walk to most of the restaurants, bars and shops. It is located at the beachfront and from the veranda of our cabana we had a very pretty beach and sea view. The whole lodge is well-kept and tastful: you find a lot if pretty plants and flowers, the cabanas are painted in different colors and on the beach guests find beach loungers and parasols.

Our cabana was clean and - the day we arrived - decorated with many flowers from the garden. It provides everything you need: A veranda with hammack, chairs and table. A kitchenette with fridge, freezer, ice cube makers, coffee machine and dishes. We would definately go there again.

Nice cabanas close to noisy bars but we were there Sunday and Monday night so ok the fan noise took care of it as well as the breeze. Staff was great and helpful. Fridge and hammocks were nice.. Did a snorkelling tour with night wind tours and just the two of us with the guide Bobo in the water with you was excellent. We got to visit the lighthouse keeper and his pets as well. It was a tour of the closer cayes and was spectacular. maybe no need to go out so far?

We stayed at the Ranguana Lodge Jan 29, 30, and 31/14 and it was great! We were in the Triggerfish Cabana which is on the beach (as is the Parrot Fish Cabana). The room was clean and there is lots of hot water. There is a nice little porch with a table and chairs and, of course, a hammock! The internet didn't quite make it to our room but it's available in the office. The beach is beautiful and very clean. As noted by other reviewers, the neighbouring bars can be quite noisy but we just turned our fan on at night and it muffled most of the noise. Rodesia at the front desk is very nice and helpful. (Tip: If you want to see bats, stand on the sidewalk just after dark at the Ranguana Lodge sign! It's really fun! We took slow motion video of them with the new I-phone!)

We spent two nights and enjoyed the location. Beach front cabin-type rooms were simple, yet clean and well maintained. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Location is good. The Barefoot Bar next door can be loud late into the night, but we were okay with that.

Room Tip: Think there are only about five cabins altogether, three beach-side and two larger ones behind. Any...

Had the great fortune of renting a cabin for a week complete with kitchen! It was off season so it was right around $50-60/night. A short walk down the Narrowest Main Street in the World(sidewalk) to the local restaurants and bars. More on the north end of the village it is away from the din of the outdoor bars. On the beach it's an excellent location.

Room Tip: Best breezes in cabins directly on the beach.

I recently spent three nights at the Ranguana Lodge and found it to be a great place to stay. It is about a ten minute walk up the Sidewalk from the waterfront, almost next door to the D'Tatch restaurant to one side and the Barefoot Bar on the otherside. Should the stress of relaxing in one of the hotel loungers on the beach prove too much it was easy to make your way in either direction for sustenance. The stretch of beach out front is probably one of the best beaches in all of Belize (I was in Caye Caulker for four days before coming to Placencia) with white sand and safe swimming right in front of your cabin.
The ocean front rooms have a coffee maker, fridge and microwave while the garden rooms have all of that plus more kitchen facilities to prepare a more complete meal if you wished. The rooms are clean and provide basic accommodation, a comfortable bed, a tiny bathroom with shower and a patio overlooking the beach at a reasonable price.
Joy and Rodesia in the front office were extremely helpful with various airline and taxi reservations, looking after luggage that arrived late and answering the many questions a group of seven has.

We stayed in the cabanas on the beach. Beautiful and you can't beat the location. Adjacent to two bar/restaurants and along the walkway along the beach in the center of town. The staff were nice and Edwardo was night security. I felt safe. They were painting and staining and upkeep was great.
