The Belize Ocean Club is an impressive establishment with top-notch service, beautiful grounds, and large, well-appointed rooms. First, the staff are all genuinely friendly and helpful: The owners were present and mingled with the guests and the locals who frequent the resort. They are great people and are working very hard to get the hotel up to the standards that they are striving for. The staff at the front desk are also very accommodating and will help arrange any excursions, trips into Placencia and take care of anything and everything. The bartenders and servers are all a lot of fun and really make hanging out at the pool bar a joy. Security will run you into the village, to the grocery store and back and forth from the airport, and everyone greets you with a genuine smile. The grounds are beautiful, with colorful flowers and trees everywhere, which are constantly being tended to. The beach, while small, is still one of the nicer ones on the peninsula and is spotless and pristine. The rooms are all suites, and include a large kitchen, which is really nice. The sitting area is large, and having two bedrooms and two bathrooms made the room feel like home versus a hotel.
The second half of the hotel is being completed on the lagoon side and will include a gym and a formal restaurant. The food was good, and while it does take a while for it to be served, you just learn to order early. Being so new, there are still some kinks to be worked out, but they are minor. One suggestion is to have black out blinds in the rooms, as the sunrise early in the morning serves as a bit of an early wake-up call with the brightness. However, waking up to the beautiful scene outside your window is a nice problem to have. It is a bit of a trek into Placencia, but as the other reviews mention, there are ways to get into town (driver, cab or Ritchie's Bus), and with the Bistro and Mango's close by there are alternatives, but there aren't a lot of reasons to leave the BOC. Can't wait to come back!
