We travel as a family a fair amount and this is hands down the best resort experience we've ever had. The staff is amazing - Althea took care of all booking with tours and puddle jumper home so I didn't have to. And the guides they use were fantastic. All staff are friendly and customer service pros. The grounds and villas are just beautiful and well maintained. My daughter loved finding "her" iguana each day in the beautiful flowers. Having the kitchen and the washer/dryer made the vacation. Putting stinky seawater clothes in the wash was fantastic so bring 3-in-1 wash sheets with you. And having cold beer, snacks, coffee and breakfast stuff at the ready (there is a brand new nice grocery just up the road) was the best. The beds are so comfy - linens were of excellent quality. So were bath toiletries. Good soaps, shampoos, lotions.

The food was just amazing. We brought our fresh caught fish back and the kitchen sent up what is undoubtedly the best meal we have ever had. They started with sushi and then sent banana leaf baked, mango sauce, grilled fish, and rice, potatoes and perfectly cooked vegetables. Divine.

Overall I just can't rave enough. I wish I could win lotto and live there...

Chabil Mars was a great place to honeymoon! The resort itself is breathtaking- flowers everywhere. The villa was immaculate and perfect- even though we hardly spend any time in there! The staff was awesome- front desk staff was always friendly and helpful, Silvino the security guard checked on us everyday and made us feel at home, and Danny gave plenty of fishing advice! They made us feel at home.
Even though the resort was fairly full it never felt that way. My husband and I were usually the only ones in the pool, and there was always a chair on the beach available.
We rode into Placencia almost everyday to eat and felt safe walking around- Cozy Corner, DeTatch, and Rumfish were our favorites!
Book your tours through the hotel even though they are slightly more expensive- we tried a place in town and were really disappointed and ended up using Tifanny and Natalie to help us out- it was great!
I hope we get to go back one day!

Room Tip: Villa 11 was great- second floors definitely had the better views....

This was an absolutely wonderful place to spend a week with my family. The rooms were delightful, everyone on the staff was outstanding and the topper was the outdoor bar...this was a wonderful meeting spot in the late afternoon to catch up with other guests and/or villa owners. The bartender, Deshaun, is an absolute magician at his craft and we enjoyed some of the most creative and tastiest cocktails ever. The food was outstanding and the variety of spots on the property to enjoy lunch and dinner were spectacular. This is a wonderful resort with all the amenities one could ask for. I just hope that Deshaun will stay so I can enjoy more of his creations on my next visit.

Chabil Mar has it all - beach front settting on the Caribbean, spacious and attractive villas complete with fully-equipped kitchen, your choice of two pools, dining anywhere from your personal deck to poolside to the end of the dock, incredible staff and even some limited but unshy birdlife. Meals, especially seafood, were exceptional especially after being cautious (for good reason) about seafood far from the sea until then.

Bicycles are free for visitors to pedal into town; golf carts can be rented for exploring further afield on the Placencia Peninsula; security staff is present but not disturbing; DVDs are available free to play on your in-room DVD player. General Manager Asencio was happy to give us rides into town or back, and to the airstrip on our final morning. Internet access is by borrowing an office laptop with a wifi connection, no charge. Staffer Tiffany even confirmed our flight out for us without our knowledge! Overall - exceptional.

One tiny negative - it seems that most places in Belize ONLY serve Belize's national beer, Beliken. A Heineken would have been so much better.

Room Tip: There are no bad rooms here. Go soon before Placencia starts to resemble Miami Beach. Real estate is booming.
