Wanting to spend the night near the departure point of our boat trip to Lamanai, we looked at a couple of places and ended up at the Orchid Palm. Located on busy and noisy Queen Victoria Street, they put us in a very small ground floor room at the rear with only a tiny window in the bathroom, so we slept undisturbed except by the ceiling fan and a dog that barked on and off throughout the night. Other good features were a loaner umbrella and proximity to the city market and many local taco sellers. In the morning we got back our $15 room damage deposit and were given two free bananas. So accept it for what it is - safe and adequately clean accommodations in a very poor city at a reasonable price.

All of the staff was very friendly and helpful. They gave us good information about tours to Lamanai and how to get back to Belize City. We enjoyed the fresh fruit, cold water and coffee in the lobby. When the WiFi went down they fixed it very promptly. The room was very clean and quiet.

We stayed in Orchard Palm Inn for two nights in June 2013. Our room was small but comfortable with air-con and a good shower. It was nice to have tea and coffee facilities but very annoying that the wifi didn't work in our room. Overall it was quiet, except for a member of staff having a conversation outside our room very early one morning! This is an OK option for a couple of nights in order to visit fabulous Lamanai!

The hotel is fine. However, it would have been nice to know in advance that the only room they had left (although matched our requirement of "quiet") was too far to have WiFi working. Also, we had the guy from reception having a conversation at 6am with someone on the 2nd floor outside our door. If this was a guest it would have been just one of those things but as he was a member of staff he should have known better...

Room Tip: take a room on the side of reception and not at the back if you want WiFi to work.
