“Wonderful B&B and outstanding host/hostess”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 March 2014

Kim and Susan are warm and gracious and offer a wonderful B&B experience. They have given much attention to details which make guests feel cared for and pampered. Susan is a wonderful cook, the food is what one would expect in a "fine dining" restaurant, wonderful presentation, delicious well seasoned dishes with fresh ingredients. We loved the wrapped muffins to take along with us on our excursions. The property is lovely, delightful garden, attractive common areas and cozy comfortable rooms. Kim and Susan are very knowledgeable about the area and share helpful information with their guests. The focus of our trip was to experience Jimmy Carter's Sunday School class but will probably return to see other sites in the area.

Dear TuscaloosaAteam:

Thank you for allowing us to host your visit to our area while attending Jimmy Carter's Sunday School class at Maranatha Baptist Church. We understand that when folks are excited about seeing our former President, that there may not be as much time to linger over breakfast. Wrapping your muffins "to go" allows you the pleasure of enjoying them later, while still giving you the time to enjoy the main course served in our dining room.

There is so much history in this area to explore, besides the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site in Plains and attending Sunday School with President Carter. Andersonville National Historic Site is an especially important venue as the most infamous Civil War Prison and the location of the National Prisoner of War Museum. We hope you will allow us to be your "home away from home" on your next excursion to this area.

Thank you, again.
Warm regards,
Kim and Susan Egelseer

What a fabulous place! Everything is in place to make you feel at home. The attention to details is remarkable. We were sorry that we were staying only for one night but will go back for a longer visit next time. The house is impeccable and the breakfast was fabulous.
Susan and Kim are warm, friendly, interested in their guests and dedicated to cater to all our needs.
I recommend it strongly.

My friend and I stayed at the Americus Garden Bed & Breakfast for 3 nights. Excellent accommodations, amazing breakfasts (plus snacks/drinks available 24/7), and kind and gracious hosts. We enjoyed coming back to the relaxing environment of the B&B each evening after sightseeing. Kim provided great "insider" tips on things to see/do in the area. Wi-Fi was great with no connection/speed difficulty! Would recommend this lovely B&B as a base for a long weekend to see Plains, GA (schedule visit around President Carter teaching Sunday School) and Andersonville, GA (Civil War Prison and POW Museum).

Dear JlBorden:

Thank you so much for staying with us at the Americus Garden Inn Bed & Breakfast. We are so glad that you enjoyed our home and our brand of hospitality.

Your 3-night stay was the perfect amount of time to allow for visits to both National Historic Sites (Andersonville NHS and Jimmy Carter NHS) and to attend Sunday School with Jimmy Carter at Maranatha Baptist Church in nearby Plains, GA.

We appreciate your thoughtful review and hope future travel brings you back our way.

We celebrated Valentine's Day at the inn. My husband called Susan and Kim ahead of time and asked them to arrange for flowers in our room...to surprise me. They did and I was so surprised.... Although the inn was full, they gave each guest the best of southern hospitality! We look forward to next time.

We can't say enough about Susan & Kim's wonderful bed & breakfast!! This was our first time in a B & B, so we were a little uncertain of what to expect. No need to worry- what a lovely find! We were in the Balcony Room, and wish we had more time to enjoy the view and sleeping accommodations. The breakfasts were delightful, with Kim as a server and Susan doing the cooking. Valentine's weekend breakfast was chocolate muffins and peanut butter pancakes.. of course with fruit, juice and omelet. They had even put rose petals on the bed!! Our circle of family and friends now includes Susan and Kim. We will definitely stay there again and whole-heartedly recommend the Americus Garden Bed & Breakfast.

Room Tip: Susan gives a good description of each room. The Balcony Room faces East, and has a little veranda...

Dear elliev476:

Thank you so much for allowing us to provide you with your first Bed and Breakfast experience. We know that your first time can be awkward as you have no idea what to expect. Since every B&B is as unique as the owners, it can be tricky to decide what will be comfortable. Thank you for trusting us to provide you with a clean, comfortable, welcoming "home away from home".

The Balcony Suite is a beautiful upstairs room with a King bed and a private balcony facing East. It is perfect for enjoying the sunrise and for stargazing at night. For Valentine's Day, we did scatter some rose petals to add to the romance.

We are so glad to know that you enjoyed what we served for breakfast while you were here. It is our goal to provide something that pleases your eyes and your palate.

Thank you for your friendship. We look forward to seeing you again.

Susan and Kim Egelseer

Our stay was a Valentine's gift to my wife, and it couldn't have been a better experience! From the moment we were greeted by Kim and Susan, we felt like family. The atmosphere of the house and the friendliness of the owners made our stay that much more special. The room we stayed in, the Library Room, was warm, welcoming, and comfortable. I am simply amazed that this wonderful B&B is run by only two people! The breakfast was delicious, and we enjoyed meeting and chatting with the other guests. We will definitely be returning!

Dear Francis B:

Thank you so much for your kind review. We are delighted that you and your wife had an enjoyable stay for Valentine's Day. It is our pleasure to share our home with others and, yes, we do everything ourselves to make sure that our guests receive 100% of our attention.

The Library Suite is a beautiful downstairs room with a King bed, original hardwood floors, 12 foot ceiling and a small bathroom with a walk-in shower. Perfectly comfortable and convenient to the common areas - the parlor and the dining room.

We hope that you will be able to enjoy a longer stay on your next visit.

Since 2009, every trip to and from Knoxville to visit family we have stayed with Kim and Susan at this most wonderful Bed & Breakfast. Both Kim and Susan are wonderful hosts to the point that they are almost like family because they treat you like family. We never have to worry about having a clean comfortable room, a great gourmet breakfast or finding out about local attractions. The whole experience of staying at Americus Garden Inn we have not found duplicated at any other Bed and Breakfast that we have ever stayed in.
