I am not sure I am reviewing the right establishment but I say do not miss Tikal. I was hesitant to go to Tikal for several reasons.
1. Rain season I was afraid of heavy rains, high humidity and high temperatures. Everything was far better than expected much dryer. If you take the early sunrise tour you avoid the heat during the day. According to the guides there is some sort of micro climate in the end of June lasting for about fourteen day with unusually dry weather.
2. Difficult to arrange lodging and find a good place to sleep. I stayed in Flores and conveniently traveled up to Tikal during the day. At eleven you are probably done and can go back to Flores again. However there are lodging options in Tikal so you can spend several days here if you can stand the heat.
Please visit Tikal do not miss this extraordinary place if you have the chance to go here. I believe Tikal is in the same league as Maccu Pichu in Peru.
The sunrise tour started from Flores at 03:00 am you will be up with the shuttle bus in time for the sunrise in temple IV. The guides are excellent and can give fantastic information about Tikal. Difficult to comprehend that 150 000 Maya Indians once lived at Tikal.
Are there a possibility to see the sunrise in Tikal in end of June? Probably not too cloudy but go anyway it is that good! If you really want to see the sunrise the best time is probably around December or January but luck can strike anytime of the year.
