Stayed here for a business trip. The hotel was very close to the airport and had a regular shuttle. There were some very good restaurants within walking distance and the restaurants in the hotel were also very good. The breakfast was outstanding with an amazing selection of fresh fruit and pastries.

This was my first time in Guatemala and traveling for business. My customers are located on the Aurora airport so I wanted a hotel near the airport so they recommended the Intercontinental. This hotel is very close to the airport and they have a shuttle that is available every hour. They also coordinated a personal taxi that charged by the hour and it was very convinient and the drive was very pleasant. We had a 4 hour break between some scheduled training sessions and the driver took us to the outdoor market and we did some great shopping! Loved it! The rooms are clean and the price is very reasonable. They also offered us the "upsell" for $20.00 and included wi-fi and the breakfast buffet, which was fantastic and a huge selection. Yummy!

I spent more then 1 month here on business and can highly recommend the Intercontinental. Overall, the hotel is what you would come to expect from an InterContinental property. The room was comfortably decorated, creating a very relaxing atmosphere. All the staff we encountered were attentive and always cheerful. The rooms were spotlessly clean and frequently updated with fresh supplies. Helpful staff, always greet and ask how was my day! Breakfast is excellent - much choice!

There was only one little complain, the swimming pool probably a bit small.

I went to Guatemala City for a work trip and the client put me in this hotel. The lobby is very open and pleasant and the front desk spoke very good English to me when I needed anything.

The room was a large and open with a nice bathroom as well. The in house Internet was fast with a daily option or a weekly option for purchase.

One warning... there is no complimetary water offered to guests. With the clean water issue, I had to make sure I bought water out and then brought it back to the room.

I will stay at this hotel if I am asked to return to Guatemala.

Although I do not usually stay at 5 star hotels, due to the cost, I am here with a group so I get to experience it. This hotel staff can not do enough for you. Very professional and extremely friendly. Most speak English, however they allow me to try out my basic Spanish skills with much helpfulness on their part.

We know that we are a bit more expensive than some other hotels from the city, that's why we are giving what we call in Intercontinental Hotels this "extra mile" for our guests and want them to have a great experience with us.

Our team stayed three times at the Intercontinental Hotel during 2010 and 2011 for a total of five weeks. We had a good experience in all regards with respect to accommodations, meals and conference room facilities. The staff was always courteous and responsive to our requests and helped make our rigorous work schedule as enjoyable as possible. The rooms were comfortable with large beds with a desk spacious enough to accommodate a laptop, peripherals and paperwork. The Internet connection speed was adequate for normal work activities.

The Intercontinental has a superb breakfast buffet that includes a fruit station where a wide variety of fruits are freshly cut and peeled according to the guests’ request. The hot steam tables have an extensive assortment of both traditional and local specialties. There are also fine cheeses and cold cuts available which are rotated every day. There are always at least three different fresh juices, however these are often mixed with sugar which rendered them unpleasantly sweet. That said, guests can request that the fruit station squeeze fresh juices for them if they are not in a hurry.

The lunch and dinner fare at the main restaurant were unremarkable and service was a bit slow. However, our group enjoyed numerous meals at the hotel’s Tanoshii Japanese restaurant. My favorite dish which I ate on more than one occasion was the shrimp and vegetable tempura. There were also a number of tasty vegetable and rice dishes. The Tanoshii is open fairly late at night, which was a big advantage for those of us working long hours. The only detraction from an otherwise top notch experience was the fact that the Tanoshii laces some of its dishes with generous amounts of MSG to enhance the flavor, which can be a problem for people who are allergic to the substance.

Although the conference room facilities were excellent, the catered food that was delivered to us was mighty grim, consisting mainly of soggy, doughy sandwiches and other unappetizing fare, so much so that many team members chose to go eat lunch at a nearby restaurant. The hotel is conveniently located in the Zona Viva where there are many other restaurants where guests can experience a variety of Guatemalan and international cuisines.

The hotel has a large outdoor heated swimming pool where guests can swim laps and get some after work exercise. They can also relax in the jetted tub located next to the pool. There is a bar in the lobby which offers live music and dancing. It is loud, so make sure that you request a room that is not directly above it.

The fact that our team returned to the Intercontinental for two additional stays is testimony to the fact that we were satisfied with the hotel.

Room Tip: Request a room with a poolside view rather that a street view. The upper tend tend to be the quietes...

Your comments regarding our Food & Beverage service from our japonese Tanoshii, the international restaurant Cafe de la Paix and from the banquet service are very helpfull and I already forwarded them to the concerned staff in order see our area of opportunities and improve our service especially with the banqueting departament.
As I believe that your are from the Healing Hands group, I will make sure that we get your expectation this week.
