I found the front desk staff to be very helpful and very friendly. The dinner and music at Picasso's was absolutely amazing. I only had one evening to stay, as I was catching an early morning flight. Now, I wish I had stayed for many more days.

Very nice hotel and in a perfect downtown location. Close to lots of restaurants and night life. Though there was some lobby construction going on, the hotel was spotless and the pool and spa area quite nice. The best feature was the hospitality by all staff members. Always a friendly smile and a can we assist you with anything attitude.

Room Tip: The 14th and 15th floors are the best and include the executive lounge and services. Well worth the...

This is a very good hotel which would benefit from some renovation in the rooms (not lobby). The staff is very helpfull and friendly. I had a nice big joúnior suite and enjoyed the club even this is sometime a bit croudy. Nice Gym. Good place to stay in Guatemala City and will have 5 points when the rooms are renovated a bit.

Room Tip: Corner room

i was overall disappointed in the hotel - but maybe i should have managed the expectations since it is Guatemala, and not NYC. the "executive" lounge was tiny and felt cluster-phobic, the check in process was slow, and the first floor breakfast area was more like a cafeteria than a restaurant. rooms were old. I was happy not to be staying long.
good thing was the gym and pool that was outdoors.

The hotel is under construction. Check-in is a slow process. They didn't have the room type I booked and tried to get me to take another bed type. They then placed me on a floor that was under construction. In the morning the sheetrock dust was so thick I couldn't see the end of the hallway. All this for over $200 USD per night. Stay elsewhere!

Room Tip: Avoid the floors with construction underway

The coffee and pastries alone make this hotel worth the visit. The hotel has been undergoing renovations for far too long. I'm anxious for them to be completed early February. I feel very safe at this hotel, the rooms are always very clean and the food is very good as well. Highly reocmmend this hotel.

Room Tip: ask for a king or you may get a double bed.

This was my 9th stay at the Real Intercontinental since 2005. This hotel has become home base to me for 10 days trips to Guatemala City and therefore I have an affection for the property and the rooms. The good includes the front desk staff hospitality and the breakfast buffet which is reasonably priced for many tasty (and local) options. The rooms are vibrantly decorated, decent size, and moderately comfortable. On the bad side, the food service here is painfully slow in both the restaurant and sushi bar...often taking up to an hour for a simple sandwich! With this in mind, there are multiple restaurants within walking distance as the hotel has a great location.
