Nice to see the city folk at play. Vendors of food and toys...children playing, nursing mothers, real life :)

If you like photos this is an exelent place! Still be careful cuz its kind of dangerous, there is a place called "El Portal" nice for photos or the "Palacio de la Cultura" as well very photogenic, if you decide to visit this place in zone 1 do it in groups since its kind of dangerous if you go just by your self with a fancy camara

Grande square in the centre of the city by cathedrals and government buidings with The National Palace dominating. Local culture prevails (could count on 1 hand other foreign tourists) with a pluralist make up (well dressed government workers as well as people trying to make ends meet) It has a central fountain with venders and peddlers working the crowd (and thousands of pigeons) It's the bastion of Guatemala's democracy and if your propitious you'll see a demonstration.

I'm not really sure how this can be deemed a nice place to go to - sums up Guatemala City, just go straight on to places like Antigua or Lake Atitlan.
One godsend was a very retro-cool bar mentioned in the Lonely Planet called El Portal
