Finca Tatin, a wonderful place to get back to nature. Such a beautiful, rustic place to explore or just to chill. The staff is exceptional and fluent in most languages. The accommodations are adequate and the common areas were a great place to meet new people and get on the internet. Dinners are family style and made it that much more quaint. Everything you could ever need is there....sauna, kayaks and transportation. I hope to go back soon.

Room Tip: Make sure you have any supplies and money you need before arriving. The only way to get them is to g...

What an amazing experience to begin a trip in Guatemala. It set the tone for a most wonderful trip. Stayed in one of the small huts, woke to the birds, relaxed with hammocks, rode 7 hours in kayaks, sat in the sauna, ate wonderful meals, and slowed down from the pace at home.

Room Tip: Used Rough Guide and Lonely Planet to find the best place ever.

I just stayed at Finca Tatin for the second time and it remains one of my favorite places in Guatemala. Just a note - Finca Tatin is a rustic eco-lodge. If you are expecting 5-star accommodations with the electrical and plumbing amenities of a resort in a well-developed city, and if the prospect of coming into close contact with nature, including insects, scares you, then this is not the place for you. I absolutely love it here and can't say enough good things about it. The setting is gorgeous and tranquil, perfect for retreating into nature, appreciating a lush jungle and calm river, and taking a break from civilization. The communal dinners are delicious, especially the tortillas and chimichurri, which my friends and I fought over every night. The staff is absolutely wonderful, very attentive, friendly, upbeat and engaging. The "Casa Grande" is a great place to relax in a hammock, swing or couch to read or socialize with the many friendly and interesting people who pass through. We took a lovely kayak ride to Livingston, did the one-day snorkeling trip to Belize, joined the night hike and enjoyed the temazcal (Mayan sauna) and jumping into the river off the rope swing. One of the aspects of Finca Tatin that I most love is how safe I feel and the community nature of the place; your bill is based on the honor system - you tally up what you eat/drink, kayak rentals, boat trips, etc. and pay at the end. It is very rare in this day and age to find a place where such trust still exists. Of course, the presence of Negro the dog and Shuna the cat are also welcome additions as well. I can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: If it's within your budget, the cabins on the river offer porches with views of the river.

I loved the meals, the attentive staff, the guests who were also there, the solo kayak ride down the river to the hot springs and the "bat cave", the big black dog that seems to greet each new arrival, the serenity of the river, the design of the hostel (is it a hostel ???), oh the dinner and breakfast. I love food and I love good food. Oh where was I...just loved experiencing parts of Guatemala people rarely get to see because they typically head the other way (Antigua , etc, ) when the get off the plane. I loved being in the jungle. I wish I had more time to see it. I was only there for one day, so I owe myself another trip to Guatemala. Oh i stayed in the dorms on the 2nd floor. I wanted a private room but I was going day by day and booked the day before.

We came to the Finca Tatin in a group of 12 people. The whole staff cared so much about us, we had a great time. Even there are differences in between the rooms, they all are really nice. The setting in the jungle is breathtaking. Thank you very much!!

I had a great stay at finca tatin. its really a special place in the middle of the jungle!
you arrive and from the 1 moment i felt like home. the staff is very nice and they try to help where ever they can. the food is very delicious. I am a vegetarian, so they cooked specially every night a vegetarian meal for me! Thank you!
the bungalows are very clean and comfortable. of course sometimes you find some bugs around...but this is normal if you decide to stay in the jungle.
they have lots of hammocks around to chill in or kayaks for discover the river.
I definitely gonna come back next year!

Room Tip: the rooms close to the river are very nice!
