“Great atmosphere!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 April 2014 via mobile

Stayed one night at this wonderful place before heading to Rio Dulce and we don't regret one second there. The atmosphere is amazing and the staff so friendly! Kayaking there was one of the best experiences of our three month journey through Central America. Make sure not to miss family dinner, food was great! Relaxing place to stay, see nature and just enjoy life! Don't skip this place!!

I came here with low expectation, because I had my worst day in Guatemala in the town rio dulce.
I'm a cheap traveler, so I don't like the prices I had to pay for dinner and lunch, because I don't have other options!! U r in the middle of the jungle, and no other way to move from place to another other than taking a lancha, which is expensivvvvve. However they cook really good food, the staff r friendly and the owner is around most of the time.
Some review complain about the spider and Mosquitos, well u gotta consider that u r in a jungle!!! Finca tatin is in a jungle and trees and muddy pathways r all around, I stayed in the dorms, they had mosquito net on every bed so it was good.
And yeah u can walk to the cave, Mayan village, and cross the jungle to go to Livingston and all without paying a penny.
Kayaking was the best thing to do, it's about 30Q for a kayak, take it and go anywhere: tiendas and bird watching.

This pretty hostel is situated on the way to Rio Dulce from Livingston in the mist of nowhere. It's definitely a place to relax, take a swim in the dirty river or go kayaking. It's a really nicely set up place, if you're in the mood for being "stuck" in the middle of nowhere. Unfortunately you have to succumb to eating there as the hostel is the only place around. The food is average and priced averagely too. The rooms are extremely basic and damp. There is no electricity passed the hour of 10pm, and the wi fi is non existent, although they offer "free wi-fi". Showers are cold, and there are tons of mosquitos so pile on the repellent!

PROs: The location is brilliant and just about 10 km from Livingston. The Finca is in the middle of the jungle at the river Tatin, but very close to the river Rio Dulce, which connects to Livingston. Endless kayak possibilities ar give + really nice nature experience. Dinner is served as a group thing with all guests (for those who like that, best for solo travellers).
CON's: The staff was a bit arrogant, not very communicative and not punctual...we had to wait 1.5 hours in Livingston to get back to the hotel, as they were late. We had a bungalow (Delfin) with river view, which had a nice terrace and swimming dock. Inside: The nicest part is the bathroom and shower. The rest is a "I dont wanna be in there" place with old beds with moskito nets and loads of spiders and insects all over. Also very dark. Electricity is given unti 10 pm.

Room Tip: A bungalow with river view is a must.

This place in the jungle was highly rated by folks we met when we spent 12 weeks wandering about Guatemala and Honduras. It was really worth spending time there. The casitas were great and we went kayaking two days and hiking on two other days. Some folks we met kayaked or walked all the way to Livingstone and got a ride back on Finca Tatin's launch. We highly recommend spend 4 or 5 days there. The evening communal meals were excellent

I have been at Finca Tatin with my friends Rebecca and Sarah, we planned to remain there 1 night and..we extended our stay for 5 days!!It is almost impossible to leave such a Natural Paradise. The rooms are clean and nice, the food is fantastic and with great variety, there are plenty of activities like kayaking in the beauty of the river, visiting mayan villages, caves and thermal pools. I fully enjoyed my sauna temazcal and the friendly, vibrant atmosphere. Easy to reach from Rio Dulce or Puerto Barrios, for us it has been a perfect deal. Prices are low and you can also get tons of advises and tips from the staff. I would come back for sure. I miss you already!!
