Omg this place. Super awesome, right on its own private beach. It's the equivalent to a four star resort with hostel prices. The rooms are super rustic cabins(which may not be for everyone), the grounds are well kept, the foodis good and generally reasonable and the walk to the center of Livingston is along the ocean an takes about 30min.

I went there during the new year with my new husband. The hotel we planned to stay at was full, so we walked a little ways to this place. The owners were nice but the hotel room was awful. There were sticks in the ground that I could see through to the jungle which was supposed to be our hotel room. They told us it was the only room left. I figured if I can see the jungle through the walls, then whatever lives in that jungle can see me too. No thanks!

The hotel is in an extraordinary setting: right on the beach, surrounded by lush tropical grounds. The huge rooms are palapa-style cabanas. You fall asleep to the sound of the surf just outside the window and awaken to the calls of wild birds. There's an interesting parade of locals passing by on a footpath. It's truly an isolated slice of paradise. But, it's miles from Livingston. The guidebooks assured us that there were boatmen at the ready to transport us to town...but we never saw any and ended up taking a long taxi ride to a swinging bridge then dragging luggage down a dirt path for several hundred yards. The friendly staff speaks only Spanish (and possibly some Mayan languages), so communication was tough since our Spanish is definitely nothing more than basic tourist-grade. They do not take credit cards, despite the signs everywhere assuring us that they do. The restaurant's breakfasts are terrible. For lunch and dinner there was a choice between fish, shrimp or fish soup, all were well-prepared but the variety was at best limited. The drinks are stiff and excellent. There's a big beach scene on the private beach, which was fun. Next-door is a French eco-artist who speaks several languages and she was a tremendous help in resolving our travel issues. It's scenic, rustic and peaceful, but the idea of trying to get into Livingston seemed overwhelming. On the upside, the boats to Playa Blanca will stop at the hotel dock, as did the private boat we ended up hiring for $40 to take us to Puerto Barrios for our return trip to Guatemala City. It's not a hotel for everyone, but we certainly had a memorable experience, although the lack of housekeeping was a huge aggravation.

We stayed there two romantic nights to enjoy the hotel owned beach (nearly as nice as the Playa Blanca), hanging around in the hammocks and having a quiet time in the middle of palm lined good quality cottages. To and from there you get by taxi (about 15 to 20 Quetzales from the embarcadero in Livingston) and walking a 200 meters distance after crossing a brigde. It is a very nice little - and sustainable - place with helpful and lovely people, where you can relax from the noises of Livingston and organize trips to the springs at Siete Altares and the famous Playa Blanca. We took a double room with an own bathroom, which was about 200 Quetzales per night, a very fair price considering the local rates. This includes Internet access during 15-20 minutes a day (via satellite), but no breakfast. We didn´t like the gastronomic part (food came late and was quite expensive), but there are some little restaurants nearby.
