Just got back from a 7 day Carnival cruise on April 27, 2008. I originally booked this cruise because of the itinary and we were supposed to go to Costa Maya Mexico. The hurricane last year took out that quaint city and I was disappointed. Carnival advised me that Roatan was the replacement port. After reading about Roatan on Tripadvisor, I booked our group of 15 family members on the Island tour with Transtours. We docked at the port and walked to the security gate and I said I had a tour with Orsy Cruz with Transtours. He was pointed out to us and greeted us immediately. We went in 2 air conditioned comfortable vans and each van had a guide to advise or answer questions. We stopped for pictures where ever we wanted and stopped off at the Iguana farm. At the next stop we got to hold and play with white faced monkeys and took tons of pictures. We saw banana tree groves and cashew trees. The drivers were very careful with our group and helped the elders in our group in and out of the vans. The countryside was beautiful and full of hills and mountains and we got to see how people live and work in Roatan. The cruise ships companies try to scare and discourage you from taking any tours except theirs. We paid 1/4th the price as the others on the ship and we had our own private mini van and guides. What a great way to see Roatan.
What great family memories for us!
