“Wonderful Experience of the East End”
Reviewed 21 March 2013

My fiancé and I wanted to scuba dive in Roatan and wanted to get away from the touristy west end. Marble Hill Farms was a great choice. We came to complete our PADI Open Water and Marek was alot of fun and a true professional. Including the Open Water Referral, we did three morning dives and one day trip to Pigeon Cays and had a blast. Jana was very helpful and made sure all of our needs were met at MHF. We asked for some local foods so three mornings Jana had a local "Roatan" breakfast for us. Our casita was right on the water and was very comfortable. At night you can just let the sea breeze flow through the casita. Brian and Rebecca ran the Crow's Nest Restaurant and they were very friendly. Many locals also came to the restaurant so it was a good way to learn more about the east end. When we were not diving we took the kayaks out to paddle and snorkel around the reefs nearby. We rented a car for our trip which allowed us to explore the rest of the east end, especially Camp Bay and La Sirena restaurant.

Room Tip: Ask for Casita #3. It is more private and closest to the water.

We stayed here in January 2013 for a week, and had such a wonderful time! Jana and Marek were wonderful friendly hosts, and even helped my fiance come up with a plan to propose to me on Pigeon Cay! We couldn't recommend this place enough - they went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable.
If you like being away from the tourists and amongst the trees with empty beaches and beautiful snorkelling, come here! We drove up the busy end of the island for just one day and that was enough to send us running back to our hideaway at Marble Hill Farms!
The view out of the tree houses is stunning, and they felt very private.
One of the best things was the open-air shower!
Stay here, you won't regret it!

Room Tip: The view from the tree houses is just amazing.

I just returned from spending a wonderful week at Marble Hill Farms. It is a unique and special place. Jana and Marek are warm, wonderful hosts. It is definitely off the beaten path and so a car is desirable if you are staying more than a couple days. Marek is a great dive master (very funny). They have some kayaks and paddle boards. The lodging is modest but we found it to be very clean, the grounds nicely maintained, all the staff really friendly. It is on 26 acres with trails you can walk among gorgeous flowering trees, scrubs, and plants.

Don't miss hanging out at the Crow's Nest Restaurant on the grounds and talking with managers Brian and Rebecca who serve up great food and drinks at good prices and always have time to talk with the guests.

Room Tip: The tree houses are really cool.

We were looking forward to staying in a less touristy part of Roatan. The location itself is beautiful (on the east side of the island, and the last part is on a dirt/rocky road), and the treehouse we stayed in was pretty cute. However, the treehouse did not have any shades, so you are exposed to anyone who is outside (like the security guard who walks around the property with a gun) or anyone who happens to be hanging out on the dock. When we arrived in our rental car, the girl working there, Jana, was about to do a jam tasting for another couple who was just visiting for the day (e.g., not overnight guests). We were asked if we wanted to join in, so we put our stuff down and did the tasting, which was nice. We thought we would be shown to our room after that, but instead, Jana asked the other couple if they would like to see a room. They said yes, and we were told to continue waiting. When their tour was over (they had obviously been to see what would be our room), Jana came back and then attended to another daytripping couple who had come in the meantime and did their jam tasting, rather than showing us to our room. We felt this was unprofessional.

Moreover, we had booked our room over two months in advance. We had booked the full scuba diving package, as both of us are certified and had come to Roatan expressly to go diving. However, after being shown our room, we were informed that we could not go diving that day, as the boat was full with daytrippers, and that no dives would be done on Sunday. That left just one day of diving for us, so we were forced to look elsewhere and book our diving last minute with another place - not ideal, as this was the holidays and many places were full. We wished we had been informed of this before we arrived, so that we could make other arrangements. The divemaster at Marble Hill did find us another place to go diving for one of the days out of Oak Ridge, which we appreciated - the divemaster we went out with that day was awesome.

We also felt the price is a bit high for what you get.

We have spent lots of time at Marble Hill Farms and will again. Lunch, dinner, jams, jellies, and scuba diving is what we have experienced. All good, good, good. You will not be disappointed. The atmosphere is great. Brian and Rebecca will make you feel like old friends. Try the Cuban sandwich..... the best I've had since leaving South Florida, and that's the truth ! All the local expats hang out here. A tell tale sign that this is a must-visit-place. You won't be disappointed. We visited March and May of 2012.

Room Tip: Their swimming pool is also known as the Caribbean Sea. Don't miss this.

Just pulled in for jam tasting with no plans of where to stay. Checked out the tree house rooms and casitas, too. Then went further east to see what else the island had to offer on the east side. Ended up coming back to stay for 4 nights. Took a dive boat out for scuba. Free kayaking, too. Was great. Excellent restaurant with an excellent staff, too. Would like to come back next spring.
