“Perfect for a couple of nights”
Reviewed 27 March 2014 via mobile

Stayed a couple of nights in a private room, reasonably priced and very clean. Dorms are even cheaper. There's a nice breezy terrace and the staff are friendly and willing to help you enjoy your time in Copan. A terrific Honduran breakfast in Casa Ixchell around the corner was included.
My only slight concern was the suicide shower, but the electric wiring wasn't anywhere near as bad as other places I've seen!

This is a great little place in Copan Ruinas. Great staff - friendly and helpful and probably the best breakfast I've had on this trip. Copan Ruinas is a lovely little town and Berakah is about a block from the central plaza and a nice, mainly tree covered walk to the ruins themselves. Really was a great place!

Room Tip: Room closest to reception can get noisy

Berakah is a small hostel with a great vibe. It s in a good location, close to the central park and the supermarket. It is clean and generally quiet. The staff is great. Fernando is nice and easy going and willing to help. The only con is that for the backpackers room there is only a shared toilet with shower outside of the room, so the wait sometimes is long. Also there are issues with getting water (not the hostel's fault though).

I stayed 3 nights in Hostal Berakah.
From the start, Fernando was very helpful. He arranged my shuttle there for $20 from Antigua (6 hours) with Trans-Land. The driver-Rudy was excellent!!!
My friend at the hostal broke her tooth in the evening. Fernando recommended a dentist. He told us where it was. We were walking there in the dark-the wrong way. Fernando happened along, and gave us a ride. He called the dental clinic as they were not open. He made a few calls for us and took some time to do this. He was very kind and went out of his way. But, that is the way he seems to be!

The location of this hostal is perfect. Probably one of the best in town if you want to walk to the ruins and one block from main plaza. Also across the street from a supermarket, that I didn't even know was there the first 2 days!

The Hostal was small and so it was not too loud. But, there was opportunity to meet nice travelers on the terrace. My room had hot water, cable t.v. and a fan. The bed was comfortable. I felt safe there and in Copan in general.
There is free coffee in the a.m. and free filtered water in the lobby. Also, they offer a selection of cold beverages to buy. I recommend room 3 for a private, quieter room.

I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Room 3. Private Bathroom and quieter.

Good backpacker stay, common terrace with hammocks is nice. Beer and refreshments can be bought on site. Staff is knowledgeable and helpful, they arranged a shuttle for us from Guatemala. Good location, nice tours on offer, good wifi. Smallish bathrooms, but overall good value for money

Our first night in Honduras and still suffering from jetlag - so we were awake at five in the morning - when suddenly somebody opened our locked room with a key from outside - very slowly and very silent the door was opened. When i jumped out of the bed and confronted the man.
The receptionist - were we where complaining in the morning - told me that it might have been the night guard who should never enter any room - and that they have lost the spare key to our room (number 5) somewhere...
This guy definately wanted to steel from us!
Of course we didn't sleep much in that and the following night!
If you pay for a hotel this is the worst that can happen - thats why we have to rate so bad!

I had a great stay at Berakah's. Fernando (the owner) and his small staff are so nice and welcoming! Beds were actually comfortable for a hostel. Nice terrace to sit and drink some Salva Vidas. Bring your own towel for showers. Great price at the hostel, and you can get a cup of coffee and a 15L baleada next door in the morning!
