“Rainbow over Rainbow”
Reviewed 9 March 2013

The Rainbow Village was recommended to us as a safe, clean and friendly resort. We stayed there for a total of 6 nights on our recent trip to Honduras. Barbara was so nice and helpful to us, with translating and driving us to the rental car outlet as well as the airport for our journey home. She was very knowledgeable about La Ceiba and told us about where we could go white water rafting. The food was great and very reasonably priced. Great place to stay.

The Rainbow Village Hotel was an excellent place to stay during our stay there on February 27, 2013. Barbara, the owner provided us with excellent food and a very clean place to stay. The hotel was an excellent value for the money and we would definately return. The Rainbow is highly recommended as a clean, safe and comfortable place to stay.

Room Tip: The hotel consists of four cabins with them all being great from what we could see.

My wife and I visited Honduras this month for a week and needed a place to stay in La Ceiba for two nights, one on our arrival and one on our departure from La Ceiba. We were referred to Rainbow Village and after looking at the reviews on TripAdvisor, we knew that we would enjoy our short stay. We were met at the airport by Barbara and she drove us on the short trip to here establishment. When we arrived, we immediately got our bags to the room and then sat at the bar area and had a couple of cold beers and chatted with Barbara. She had a good selection of cold beer, even beers from her motherland,Germany! We had a beautiful meal that evening which consisted of a nice Schnitzel with Farmer's potatoes and a salad. It was delicious! That night we had an excellent sleep in a very comfortable bed in a very cute and cozy suite. The suites consisted of two bedrooms, one was locked off for us as we only needed the one room, a bathroom with a nice large shower, a nice kitchenette with a large fridge and a eating area with table and chairs. This area also has a television with a large selection of stations. Outside the suite, is a small porch area with a table and chairs as well as a hammock chair that was quite comfortable. Since the establishment is small, I believe that there are only four two bedroom units for rent, the service is quite personalized! Barbara is an excellent hostess and was a pleasure to talk to. We will definitely stay at the Rainbow Village the next time we travel through La Ceiba. Thank you, Barbara for your hospitality!

A good hotel, with great value for your money and exclusive service from Barbara

On the way from La Cei ba Isla Rotan I needed a base where I could spend the night before I moved on to my motorcycle.

We needed a place to stay on our way to the Bay Islands before the Christmas holidays. I found the hotel on Trip Advisor. Barbara worked with us before even arriving to arrange the number of rooms we would need, as well as payment method. She called to help ensure every thing was in order, sent us wonderful directions, and although we arrived late at night, she was there to receive us, so graciously! We were so impressed. The hotel rooms were extremely clean, spaciousand comfortable! It was such a wonderful surprise, that all wished we had longer to stay. She has a pool on the property, the breakfast was excellent. She treated us like royalty. I would highly recommend staying here. It was safe, easy to find, and she was an excellent hostess!!!

Rainbow Inn is conveniently located at few minutes away from La Ceiba Airport. Even though we landed in the middle of the night coming from Canada, Barbara, the owner, kindly picked us up at the airport to ensure we safely get to the hotel. The day after, after some good, secure and quiet sleep, we had a filling and delicious breakfast, included in room price. As Barbara understood we needed some rest after that first night, she kindly accepted to serve a late breakfast which was highly appreciated by all the family.
For those connecting to Roatan or Utila, Rainbow Inn is a perfect venue before to get on board. As it happens once in a while, the ferry to Utila was cancelled the day of our departure. Barbara, kindly made phone calls to make flight arrangements so that we can get to Utila as soon as possible.
Barbara has only four rooms to rent so she provides personal services much appreciated by us and by all customers. She is always eager to help her clients to ensure they enjoy their stay.
Rainbow Inn also has a restaurant that offers local and “European” foods at reasonable prices. We enjoyed delicious meals during our two short stays.
Rooms are so great for family since there are 2 closed rooms in some (or all 4?) units, great bathroom, and a very pleasant "salon-semi-kitchen" room. Little terrace with hammock-chairs, nice small swimming pool (a little bit cold in December but still swimmable!)... All perfect for our family who is not keen on luxury, packed and resort-kind lodging!

We stayed at the Hotel Rainbow Village for a total of three days on our way to and from Roatan. Barbara, the owner, is an extremely efficient and welcoming host. La Ceiba is not the most "settled" area I have ever visited, but with Barbara's guidance I felt safe with my family (my wife, stepdaughter{15}, and best friend.) For a reasonable fee Barbara supplied transport to and from the airport in San Pedro Sula, to and from the ferry to Roatan, and arranged for a tour of Pico Bonito National Park nearby. Being extremely close to the airport in La Cieba, I believe transport to and from that airport is free. These arrangements helped us to avoid many pitfalls and some possibly dangerous situations and I highly reccomend you making the same arrangements with Barbara. As a Chef, one of the most important things in accomodations is the food. La Ceiba is a large and bustling town, with a lot of character and plenty of diversions for the intrepid traveler; but after nightfall, we felt safer in the walls of the hotel. The convenience of this cannot be understated as Barbara and her staff run a full service restaurant and bar that is very good inside of the walls of the hotel. I was a little saddened when Barbara (originally from Germany) said we would just be missing the sunday buffet when she made things like Sauerbraten and Braise Cabbage! Barbara also arranged a FANTASTIC tour of Pico Bonito with tour guide Melvin who not only was an amazing guide with infinite help in the traverseing of ground (hand in hand leading my stepdaughter off the mountain after she fell down a couple times), but also knowing details that blew my scientist wife away (when asked about many plants we saw he knew the latin for its linnean name, and could relate very intricate concepts about the biology). I highly reccomend Barbara and Hotel Rainbow village if you are in La Ceiba. In a land of bustling and vibrant chaos it is an oasis of comfort run with an eye toward your pleasure.

Room Tip: We loved the Lilac apartment.
