Excellent facilities, fabulous birding, well-organized excursions to off-site habitats, expert guides, gracious and helpful staff, private accommodations, beautiful swimming pool, and an overall wonderful experience. We highly recommend the guided night-hike to see the nocturnal specialties of the site. We spent six days at the Lodge in late May, and although most of the migrant birds had left, there was much to see. We observed 140 species during our stay, including 13 species of hummingbirds, 4 species of trogans, and 12 species of flycatchers. We look forward to returning!

I visited here last weekend with my husband and 2 other couples and we had the most amazing experience.

The lodge is fabulous, the rooms are well equipped and had comfy beds! We ate in the restaurant for the 3 nights we were there, and not once did we have a bad food experience! The breakfast was filling and loads to choose from, perfect to set you up for the day ;) and the service at the Lodge was outstanding.

I would definetly come back here and totally recommend to anyone visiing Honduras, it's the perfect place to relax after a day doing hectic zip lining, jungle hikes etc, or just to chill out by the pool!

All in all 10/10

This place was exactly what you would expect from a small, luxury hotel. The cabins were attractive, comfortable and well equipped, but the real draw here is the gardens and the private trails. The gardens are beautiful and full of hummingbirds, and sitting on the restaurant deck for cocktails or meals is really special. The food in the restaurant is stunning - you're a captive audience as the Lodge is a long way from anywhere else, but they don't take advantage of you. Prices are reasonable and everything we ate was delicious. Service was faultless and attentive, but was also friendly and warm.

Our only gripe with the Lodge was that we booked a hike to the waterfalls with a guide at quite a substantial price, and the guide didn't really speak English. I speak Spanish so we could communicate, but my friends did not. We expected a guide at this price to be knowledgeable and engaging, and our guide was very disappointing.

We were looking for an easy to reach retreat where we could recharge after an insanely hectic start to 2013. My BF chose Honduras and I chose The Lodge at Pico Bonito.

We are beyond pleased with our 6 days we spent there. The cabins were comfortable and clean. All of our meals with the exception of one were eaten at the Lodge and we praised the food and the service. Everything was freshly made and delicious. .

In terms of activities, we took advantage of a guided hike of the Loop Trail as well as a night hike and can recommend doing both although we never worked up the energy for the Unbelievable Falls hike but if we go back it's on the list. The Manatee Refuge trip was beautiful. Even though we didn't spot a manatee we did spot other wildlife including Howler monkees. Unless you are prone to sea sickness, don't miss the Cayos Cochinos Marine Sanctuary excursion. The islands and water are breath taking and because of the time of year and day of week we were the only ones out there. The guides are very knowledgeable and really want to make your experience nothing short of amazing.

The only somewhat dim spots were the butterfly farm, serpentarium and iguana farm. They are on the property but if you skip them you won't have missed much.

Awesome experience! 3 nights in a standard cabin, no AC were comfy and were pampered by friendly, attentive staff. Great eats, beautifully kept grounds. Birds and wildlife galore, including Agutis cadging bananas from the restaurant porch, a troop of 7 coatis climbing their fav tree for the night against a blood Orange sunset, Oropendola and Toucans and hummers all over, a visit to our cabin by a white faced Spider monkey, amazing trip to Cuero y Salado river preserve where we got up close to Howler and Capuchin monkey troops, a crocodile. Palm oil groves, pineapple and cocao and coconut plantations, waterfalls, extreme mountain hiking, local villages---too many sights and sounds to record. See it while you can and stay at the Lodge in the middle of it all!

Room Tip: Any cabin- they all have feeders nearby, they're all close to the main lodge, pool, dining etc...

This is a beautifully landscaped, well designed, luxury lodge set in the lush tropical jungle of Pico Bonito National Park. The cabins (approx 20) were well appointed with a coffee maker, water bottles, fluffy towels, flashlight, robes, flip flops, ceiling fans, deck with seating as well as a hammock. Most cabins accommodated two guest rooms with a shared wall.

The service provided by the front desk staff was amazing. They made arrangements for transportation for our arrival and departure, even arranging the purchase of tickets for our departure flight from La Ceiba airport. When we arrived, it was well before the posted check-in time, but we were ushered to our cabin (welcome drink in hand), as soon as we signed in. We were even able to arrange an in-room massage with just a few hours notice. When we wanted to visit the town of La Ceiba (a 15 minute drive), they provided transportation. The staff, including waiters and bartenders, were very welcoming, friendly, and accommodating.

We visited in April & decided to reserve a cabin with air conditioning, but it wasn't really necessary.

The restaurant fare was excellent, but also very expensive. A nice meal in town would cost you about $15-20 including drinks, appetizer, taxes & gratuity. The prices on restaurant menu are quite a bit higher than that.

Even though this is in a quiet, sanctuary-like setting, there are many activities and tours to sign up for. We did all the non-guided hikes, including a trip to the swimming hole, which is highly recommended, but I wish we would've taken advantage of having a guide to help identify all the sounds, exotic plants, and to help us spot more wildlife. We also took the tour of the Wildlife Refuge (off-site), which included a 20 minute train ride and a 1 1/2 hour boat ride on the river. We saw howler monkeys and a few different species of birds, which was fascinating, but we missed seeing the manatees.

We visited for 3 days/2 nights, but felt like we should've stayed a week in order to take advantage of all the beauty there & to learn more about the wildlife, flora & fauna.
