We just had our second visit to the Flying Pelican in three months. We just love this place. Michelle is a wonderful innkeeper and she has a great staff. The food is excellent and the cocktails are the bomb. Try the Monkey LaLa.

This is truly a diamond in the rough. This B&B is a fabulous place to spend some time relaxing and enjoying the sand and surf right out front. Michelle is a great host who goes above and beyond your highest expectations. The rooms are clean and comfortable with H/C water and AC. The full breakfast which is provided next door is wonderful. But the best part is the great food that Michelle helps cook, and the pool and bar where you can relax and enjoy yourself all day and into the late evening. Michelle can even help you get transportation from San Pedro Sula at a great price right to her door. I highly recommend the Diving Pelican Inn as one of the best B&B accommodations in Honduras.

Room Tip: Two one bedroom units, and a third bedroom with a small kitchen, all with AC and H/C running water.

Thanks for the great review A & L, it was awesome having you stay with us, and thanks so much for your handyman skills in fixing a few over sites. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay with us and come back soon, we will have a new kitchen outside the laundry room by the end of next week as well.
Happy Travels, Michelle

My wife and I stayed at the Diving Pelican Inn in January-Feburary 2012. It is right on water and the sound of the surf is very relaxing. The hospitality and the excellent food made the stay even more enjoyable. There is plenty to do: We made six scuba dives at Cayos Cochinas which is a marine park just offshore and the Ziplining was thrilling! And the spa was in a very natural setting. We highly recommend a visit. Chris Z.

Hey D.Z., I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay with us, it was great seeing you and D again and I think the best part for me was seeing the excitement in your faces after returning from a dive and zipping through the canopy. Hope you can make it back again. Thanks for taking the time to post a review, it's greatly appreciated.

We spent 9 enjoyable nights here. Michelle and Andrea made us feel like it was a second home for us. The Inn is modern, spacious, clean and comfortable. I found the beach here is awesome. The softest sand, combined with warm water and mild to moderate surf made for a great beach experience for us land locked people. Michelle helped organize dive trips and trips to a nearby jungle spa, with therapeutic natural hot pools, massage treatments(we went 3 times) and a canopy zip line tour that was quite an experience! Combine this with great food and a relaxing atmosphere means we'll be back soon! Thanks to all of you at the Diving Pelican Inn. cheers Louise+ Rich

Reviewers, please read all the other reviews for a very accurate background on this wonderful outpost in the enchanting north coast land of Honduras - our review will build on what has been stated - because our experience as a family with two teenagers was simply amazing.

Michelle, Andrea and her wonderful staff went miles out of their way to facilitate an unforgettable Central America experience for us. The Diving Pelican Inn became not just a B&B, or resort, but a tour-guide hub for exploring, thrill-seeking, and immersing ourselves into the Honduran culture. Every day was an adventure - and Michelle, Andrea and Donal were there for whatever we needed - providing important information, leading tours, bringing us to the nearby town, La Ceiba for shopping or banking and/or actually joining us on our adventures (Michelle flew through the whitewater rapids with us on the Cangrejal River). Additionally, we brought a suitcase of school supplies, toothbrushes etc. for needy children - Michelle and Andrea (who is a teacher's assistance at a nearby school/orphanage) helped introduce us to the children of the region. We visited three schools (one while on an eye-opening walk through the village of Sambo Creek with Donal), meeting one smiling child after another and receiving the warmest appreciation from all. Warning: seeing this real Honduran world, right around the corner, can be distressing. We were deeply moved. However, this cultural immersion is exactly what I wanted for our family - particularly our teens - to see. We intend to establish a sponsoring relationship with Andrea's school and orphanage. We will never forget these kids and their beautiful smiles.

The fun: a fantastic rain-forest zip line canopy tour, complete with hot springs, clay mask treatment, massage etc. A stimulating boat trip to Cayos Cochinos - islands of extraordinary beauty complete with outstanding coral reefs and food cooked by the native Honduran people - all elevated by the guiding hand and huge smile of Donal. An "unique" tour of the Cacao Lagoon - reached by a dangerous, beat-up boardwalk - then hopping into a huge "dug out" wooden canoe - before venturing into the mangrove swamps complete with Howler monkeys, blue morphos butterflies etc. A hike into the Pico Bonito rain-forest (the entrance on the south-side of La Ceiba) with awesome waterfalls. Riding the waves of the warm Caribbean steps from the bar, walking the roads and paths with Donal and Michelle to pursue tropical birds, lizards, even bizarre-colored grasshoppers!! And...of course, the great rafting trip (a water venture surrounded by indescribable beauty).

Michelle provided breakfast vouchers for two neighboring inns (also great spots) and took us for lunch at another stunningly beautiful restaurant on the river and dinner at a very nice inn and restaurant further up the coast. The week was simply non-stop fun and cultural immersion in a very SAFE manner. Yes, we heard of lots of petty crime (and some other nasty stuff) going on around in the region but, as gringos, we were CATERED to by the police and locals, and, of course, our guides. We felt completely safe the entire time. The Honduran people we met were all VERY friendly.

We recommend the Diving Pelican Inn for a few days or a full week. Michelle is far more than a host, or someone to chat with over a Pina Colada or a great dinner. She will be your guide and friend - all the while opening the window to the alluring tropical world around you. Bring a sense of adventure and...if you're so inclined, some supplies for the local kids. Thank you, Michelle, Andrea and Donal for a unique vacation we will never forget.
