“good for business people who want to be isolated from honduras”
Reviewed 18 March 2009

the rooms and common areas at this hotel are very nice, as is the staff (especially the young doormen). however its so bland and characterless that if it wasn't for the palm trees out front, you could be in kansas city or des moines. breakfast is good and sandwiches etc. for lunch are fine but i'd avoid the tasteless dinners. this is not the kind of kitchen where the chef is big on flavour, it just looks good. ie. my "caribbean" fish soup tasted like the ingredients had just been put in a bowl with some stock and microwaved, completely bland and tasteless and why were frozen, new zealand mussels in a caribbean soup ?
if you're coming to honduras on business and don't like foreign places, stay here, its just like a hotel next to the airport in the u.s.a. but twice the price!

Wonderful rooms with great amenities. The rooms are not sound proof at all and was kept awake both nights. We could hear everything said in the room next to ours and from the hallway. Not restful at all.
The internet costs $15 per day, but if you take the package for $20 you get the buffet breakfast as well, that is worth it.

I don't understand a hotel of this level not having complimentary internet access.

A nice hotel, up to standard of any country. But it does not come cheap. From my perspective the hotel is overpriced, this was by far the most expensive hotel I stayed during my trip of four cities.

Room is very nice and comfortable. I did have issues with some of the lamps though, one was missing the bulb and another one had issues with the switch so one had to plug it in and out of the socket.

Pool area is small and you can clearly hear traffic noise. So fine for a quick visit, but not really for a day off at the pool.

Hotel bar is very nice, as is the breakfast.

My husband and I ended our 3-week long vacation with one final night at the Real InterContinental. It was the perfect place to end an absolutely wonderful trip. The service at the Real InterContinental was top notch all the way. We felt like we were staying in a hotel that was a lot more expensive based on the great service and the physical atmosphere. Our room was fantastic and the bed was probably the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. The hotel is conveniently located adjacent to a mall so if you need anything, you can just run over and get it (be aware, however, that no one (at least no one we came across) speaks English there and you need to use Lempiras, not dollars). The person who helped us check in gave us a fantastic restaurant recommendation (El Manzano) which we enjoyed immensely. Overall, we loved the Real Intercontinental and would stay there again if we return to Honduras in the future. Staying there was a nice way to begin to transition back into our "real world" and it was a comfortable place to rest and relax before heading back to the States the next day. I highly recommend it.

  • Liked — The comfortable bed...I wished I would bring it back home with me!
  • Disliked — I wish it was closer to the center of SPS so we could have explored more.

First time to San Pedro, Booked at the Intercontinintal Hotel. Took about 20 minutes from the airport via rental car. or pay 10.00 per person for the hotel to pick you up. you need to give them prior notice. Hotel was nice, clean and all the staff we encountered were very nice. They have a great buffet both for breakfast and dinner. Food was very good. Rooms were nice, clean and comfy beds. Cant say anything bad about it. Also it is right next door to a huge (american looking) mall. where I bought my tigo phone and a ton of minutes for about 50 bucks that worked everywhere! and the minutes lasted for the 2 weeks I was there. Hint stay at a "hotel" not a "motel" the motels are for 1 hour visits :)

We stayed here while visiting some sites in Honduras. The hotel is nice though probably not a five star hotel. The rooms were very clean but there was a slightly musty smell. I think this was because of the humidity and the air conditioning being turned off during the day. There was a time when I was sleeping late and had put the Do Not Disturb sign on my door. The maid still entered and tried to have a conversation with me about her mistake. I suppose she was worried I would report her. I really wouldn't have minded so much if she had just left instead of rousing me from sleep to discuss the matter.

We really enjoyed the lobby bar which was a nice place to have a drink after a long day. I thought the service was very good.

Apart for Roatan, this is probably one of the nicest hotels in Honduras and I would recommend it even if there are a few quirks. The postives outweigh any negatives.

In a city that is far from glamorous, in a country that is still developing, this hotel matches 5 star standards. It is conveniently located very close to two upscale shopping malls which have a huge choice of cafes and restaurants.
Our check in was dealt with swiftly and without fuss. The bedroom was large, bright and well furnished in light wood. The bed was firm, the aircon quiet, we had a safe deposit box and 100 TV channels to improve our Spanish - a few stations were in English. Our bathroom was also fine.
We ate only breakfast in the restaurant, a wide buffet style choice.
The pool area is has many palm trees although the traffic noise intrudes on the tropical feel.
Overall, a pleasing and surprising improvement on several Inter Continental hotels in Europe.
