“Excellent View of Tegucigalpa”
Reviewed 3 August 2013

El Picacho is a great place to spend a good part of a day. There are excellent views of the city, as well as places to take a nice stroll, let the kids play on the play ground, and grab a snack.
The statue itself is not altogether impressive, especially not after Brazil, but it is still worth the visit.
20 lams per person to enter the park, another 10 per person for the statue.

“Great afternoon with the family!”
Reviewed 31 July 2013

From almost anywhere in the city of Tegucigalpa you can see the Jesus statue. This is located in the Picacho park. It is a lovely walk and includes a small splash pad for kids to cool off, a small zoo with an assortment of animals, an area to play soccer and beautiful gardens to walk through. There is a small fee to enter the park itself and an additional fee to see the statue (which is also located across from some mock Mayan ruins within the same park). As a Honduran resident, I believe the fee was about L.25 or L.35 to enter the park and L.10 to walk near the Jesus statue. It provides a beautiful view of the city and the mountains surrounding it.

“Beautiful View”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

Tegucigalpa is still a big town, not really a city, It still has that charm and it is best seen from El Picacho. El Picacho is a small park that is on top of one of the mountains surrounding Tegus, as the city is called affectionately, and one can really see the layout. Take binoculars and a city map, it will be fun to spot your hotel or where your family lives, if you are a local. There is a small eatery where one can get local fare and a Japanese garden in the middle. Nice for walking around and getting close to the big statue of Jesus which now dominates the park. To get there one has to take a bus up the mountain or if going by car, just go up and up till you see a sign on the left.

“Fabulous City View/ Impressive Statue”
Reviewed 11 July 2013

A little difficult to find but well worth the ride. This place affords a fantastic view of the city, an impressive statue of Jesus (with the right lighting it looks like rays of sun are emitting from his head) and an international botanical garden. Be sure and see the Chinese garden that has a space you can stand and hear your voice echo.

“Wonderful bird's eye view of Tegucigalpa”
Reviewed 25 April 2013

This state park is a bit of a trek - took us two buses and one taxi to get there - but was definitely worth the trip. From the viewing gallery - where you can enjoy a chocolate ice cream! - you get a lovely, panoramic view of the various hills that make up the capital. off in the distance is the giant national flag, and further to the East, the national soccer stadium. Wonderful place to walk and spend a leisurely afternoon.
