“My Worst Experience Ever”
Reviewed 8 January 2011

I was travelling in Central America with my boyfriend who is a very experienced traveller and relies heavily on Footprint Travel Guide. This is a hotel which should not be listed in the Footprint Guide. Whoever who put the hotel down should be shot down as the description is totally misleading and inaccurate. It is an utter dive. It was so bad that once we saw the room we simply could not stay. Do not stay here under any circumstances. It is an appalling hotel and should be shut down immediately. Fawlty Towers is incompetent, but amusing. This place is just terrible without any amusement whatsoever. The location is dangerous, particularly so at night (the locals thought we were crazy). When we took a taxi to another hotel at midnight we were so relieved to check in to a more respectable safer place. This is certainly a hotel which should not be listed in the any guidebook ! Do not stay here ever.

This is without doubt the worst hotel I've ever stayed in and I've travelled extensively around the world. I'm not sure of its location in relation to the rest of the city because I only stayed one night and wasn't brave enough to venture outside! The rooms are filthy with stained floors, mouldy ceiling panels and holes in the ceiling. The door between our room and the next had a very flimsy lock. The shower was freezing cold. Parts of the room were in serious need of maintenance. The lift (only one of two was working) took ages to arrive and had dangerous doors that tried to close straight away even if someone was entering the lift! The only positive is that a free breakfast was provided if you like toast, eggs and congealed marmalade!

Possibly the worst hotel in the world - in the worst capital city in Central America.

We stayed here on Christmas Eve and along with our tour group were the only guests in the hotel. The only company we had in the lobby was the security guard with his gun and the receptionist. No food or restaurant/kitchen available for evening or breakfast. The furniture (a couple of sofas in the lobby) were too filthy to sit on.

Our room on the 5th floor was pure Austin Powers - with 60s decor in a shabby, dirty setting and the bathroom had unsafe wiring. The front entrance of the hotel was in a closed up market street which looked like a war zone. We were told it was unsafe to go outside at night so all spent the night with supermarket food locked in the lobby for Christmas Eve with the very nice security guard. No breakfast available on Christmas Day - but it was an experience!

This hotel used to be a Holiday Inn - the signs were still visible - but it now ready for demolition.

Do not stay here!
