“Affordable luxury and the ONLY place to stay in Tegucigalpa!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 July 2010

My second stay at this fabulous property and I know I'll be back. I was traveling with a group of 10 and Scott and his team bent over backwards to make sure our stay was hassle free. The staff are very accommodating and go out of their way to make sure that we had a memorable stay. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the beds extra-comfy.

The whole hotel has such an intimate feel and the lush courtyard lends a romantic touch. The rooftop terrace is a favorite place and is divided into covered and uncovered areas, so depending on the weather it is always usable. The view is stunning and at night the lights on the hills of Tegucigalpa look little starts. Truly a slice of heaven! They've also added a new spa area on the rooftop which I am looking forward to trying on my next visit!

The restaurant offers a variety of options that cater to all types of palettes. Our favorite is Sunday night's Uncle Erasmus' Barbeque that is done on the rooftop and features tipicos and the tenderest grilled steak I've ever had! It's served up by senoritas in colorful native dress that help set the tone for the evening and of course the view is spectacular.

Definitely my favorite place to stay!

Following a week of short-term mission it was very refreshing to have the relaxed atmosphere of the Humuya to stay for the weekend. This was my third time to be here and as always I enjoyed my stay. The staff is so helpful and attentive, the rooms are beautifully decorated and the beds very comfortable. I already look forward to our next visit!!

This is my third stay at the Humuya Inn and it is like coming home everytime i walk in the front door. I have had 2 trips with youth group kids and the staff was so wonderful. The owners have become friends from all of the times staying there. This past trip was a mission planning trip and they were so accomodating with meeting set up.
Rooms are clean and so comfortable. The decor is fantastic. Food is homemade and yummy.
My favorite part is the rooftop that over looks the city. Comfy chairs and couches listening to the sounds of the city while reading a book...

We recently stayed at the Humuya Inn for four nights. Owners Scott and Mimi and staff made us feel so welcome, and by the end of our stay I felt like we had made lifelong friends.

This hotel is located in a safe and quiet neighborhood within a 5 minuted drive from the airport. It is also close to several of the major shopping malls. We especially appreciated the handsome decor, the blending of Honduran woods, artisanal crafts combined with modern touches. Walking into the lobby, you are relieved from the intensity of the city and immediately experience the garden courtyard sheltered by beautiful mango trees and other tropical plants. This was wonderful to come home to each day!

The restaurant sits in the courtyard and you are transported away from the noises of the city. The menu has both Honduran and American selections. All of the staff speak English and are extremely courteous and helpful. We chose not to rent a car for our short stay and the desk staff helped secure trusted drivers for us which was most appreciated.

We stayed in a room tastefully decorated with beautiful mahogany woods. The room had a refrigerator, flat screen TV, plenty of closet space, a desk, WIFI, and Air conditioning. The bed was super comfortable and the bathroom clean and spacious. Our room had a little balcony that overlooked the courtyard with wicker furniture. It was lovely to sit out there in the evening and hear the music playing from the courtyard below.

Up on the fourth floor, the hotel has a terrace that has a sweeping view of the city. There is lounge furniture, tables and chairs. We participated in a private event one evening and it was truly a beautiful setting.

Staying at the Humuya Inn was what made our trip to Tegucigalpa worry free and relaxing. Personal attention, great service, and superb quality of room/hotel are all reasons why I highly recommend the Humuya Inn. I can't wait to go back!!

After an unplanned stop in Honduras to get flights out of Central America, we had the fortunate opportunity during a stressful week trying to get out of country that we would have been tempted to stay an additional day!

Wonderful, large apartment type room. Wonderful help at check in. Wonderful and supportive owners and staff and excellent continental breakfast.

We would go again tomorrow!

We came to the Humuya Inn in our ancient VW camper following a taxi driver we paid to lead us there. He had to ask three people and took us to the back entrance. "It was a dark and stormy night ....." We were walk-ins with no reservation and were ringing the bell on the wrong side of the building. We were welcomed as if we were old friends returning. The room was excellent and the service extremely competent. To top it all off, we left a small satchel of clothing and Scott sent it back to the States with a returning guest!
We will stay there again and will even endeavor to make sure we pass through Tegucigalpa on the next trip to do so.

I am an American who owns a Honduran business in the Bay Islands. I needed to travel to Tegucigalpa last week for a business meeting and happened across the Humuya Inn through trip advisor. My note to other business travelers ..............step away from the corporate hotel chains and give the Humuya Inn a try. It has all the luxuries of other large hotel chains without any of the corporate feel. I honestly felt like I was staying in a friend's home. One of the owners "Scott" was on site and a gracious host. It is beautifully decorated in warm colors. I'm a fan of rich woods and there are accents of the dark wood throughout. The topper is literally a "topper". 3 stories up is a roof top lounge area, again beautifully decorated with a slight "Eastern" or "Mediterranean" feel. The lounge area provides views of the entire city, including the Presidential palace which is not far. The Inn is located in a quiet and safe neighborhood. I highly recommend the Humuya for your next stay. You will not be disappointed.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
At last - a rare hotel in the Honduran capital that gives reviewers a chance to gush. It's a triumph for good taste, both in the well-appointed guest rooms and long-stay apartments, all set in a quiet residential neighborhood.Once a spacious Tegucigalpa home, this keeps the trappings of a comfortable family residence with the trimmings needed for modern business travel. It's a beacon of class and courteous service in Tegucigalpa. Rooms in the colonial-style house have been lovingly furnished in Honduran mahogany and decorated with striking Lencan pottery and photos of the country's charms. From the Italian ceramic floor tiles up to the vaulted ceiling, it creates an ambience where you're happy to dally - unsurprisingly, there are many long-term stays. The focal point is a lush patio where lychee and mango trees shade diners taking the complementary breakfast buffet. Climb to a fourth-floor terrace for a 360-degree panorama over Tegucigalpa's sloping sprawl. ... more   less
