The cannon is little more than a statue with a plaque in front of it. By little more I mean.. nothing more.
Positioned on the corner of a block near the courthouse, it will take you less than 5 minutes to take in all of the information, snap a photo, and move on.
Of all the cultural things to see or do, this cannon hardly deserves to even be considered an "attraction", as most residents and students don't even know that it's here.
Unless you're an old school weapons buff, there are far better ways to spend your time in beautiful downtown Athens.
