University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education & Hotel
Ranked #10 of 23 Hotels in Athens
Reviewed 12 May 2014

This was just an average room. Clean, but the rooms are very tiny and not updated. The last night of our stay, the air conditioner broke for about 6 hours. The room was very hot. The price we paid for the room, we could have stayed in a much nicer hotel in town had there been anything available. However, because of college graduation, this was the only place we could get in Athens. The front desk personnel were extremely nice and helpful.

The UGA Hotel and Conference Center is right on the University of Georgia campus with convenient parking in the deck right next to the hotel.
The Conference Center is nice, featuring conference rooms that are clean and easy to access. The food served by the Conference Center is very good.
The hotel, however, is disappointing. It is a rather old hotel and the small rooms (with Queen Beds) show some wear and tear. Paper thin walls let you hear your neighbor’s phone conversations. In order to get to outlets, guests have to unplug the microwave/ fridge/ coffee maker or move some furniture.
The amenities of the hotel are nice. The room contains a 32" flat-screen HDTV with over 50 channels. Plus it offers free Wi-Fi.
All staff members at the front desk were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the morning housekeeping staff is efficient, but impatient for people to leave their rooms.

Even the discounted rate of roughly 100 USD/ night (without breakfast) is too high for the standard the hotel offers. Convenience when attending an event at the Conference Center is the only reason to stay at this hotel. Otherwise Athens has better hotels to offer.

Absolutely perfect location to do anything on the University of Georgia campus! Convenient parking in the South Campus deck is included with your stay. Many other local hotels charge about $10 per day to park on top of the room rate. This is a terrific bargain since parking on campus can be difficult during high school spring break weeks. Multiple student bus stops are right outside the doors and using the UGA bus system is a must for getting around campus Staff is friendly and knowledgeable and room renovations are top-notch. Incredibly comfortable bedding. Free Wi-Fi. Did not give this the highest rating simply because of the inconvenience of having the vanity area open to the sleeping area. This means that when one person gets up, everyone gets up if you are traveling with a companion or your children!

This is a great location if you are visiting the University of Georgia. I was here for a conference. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The room is really nice. It had a small refrigerator and a microwave. No view but who needs that. When I got off the elevator I could see they were renovating just two doors away. In my room was a memo stating they wouldn't start before 8 and would stop at 8 pm. No worries, right? I would be up by 8:00 each morning. Unfortunately they forgot to tell the contractors who started about 7:15 each morning. Beep, beep, beep. The next morning was even worse when one of the construction workers set off a smoke alarm in a nearby room at 6:45 am. Wasn't able to figure out how to turn it off for 20 minutes. In case you think it's just me, I had friends on the floor who heard the same things. Also, breakfast is ok for one day, but we were there for 4 days and it never changed. In fact, they ran out of yogurt. The bacon and eggs were always cold. Even when we lined up when they opened at 7:10 (yep, late for 20 people waiting). So, like I said, it's a nice hotel but stay after the construction. And maybe go for breakfast at the Waffle House. The dinners however were delicious!

Was in Athens for work and stayed three nites. Beautiful facility. Small rooms. But, equipped with a small refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, hair dryer, & ironing board and iron. Easy climate control which was quite nice. First nite had noisy neighbors after midnight, called the front desk and very soon after heard someone knock on their door and they shut down the noise. Did not like the hours of onsite dining. Not open before 7am. Breakfast was good. Especially the grits. Lots of parking available. $10/day. A little pricey. There was usually someone to greet you at the entrance asking can they help you with luggage and such. Friendly. Respectful. Charming. If you have physical challenges it can be a bit taxing for you to go from the parking lot through the conference lobby through the lounge to the hotel main lobby to the elevators down the hall to your room.

When we checked in the hotel said they were going to move us from a King bed room to a suite at no extra charge. The Suite had a queen bed and pull out sofa so I was hesitant if this would best meet by needs. They were very, very customer service oriented the whole trip. They took me to the suite room to let me see it and were willing to give me either room that I wanted. The suite was much more roomy with two bathrooms and better suite for our stay, and at a great price. Throughout our stay all the staff was very pleasant and helpful....especially the front desk and the staff that delivered linens to our room. They called our room to check on our visit and whether needed anything. They offered suggestions for restaurants....very pleased with the staff at the front desk!

The room was very clean and tasteful.

The parking garage is right next door, and the hotel credited us for the $10 / night charge. Had in and out privileges so very convenient and safe.

The location was very convenient as we had an event to attend on the UGA campus. It was also close (1-2 miles) to a few restaurants we easily drove to.

Breakfast in the cafeteria was OK...nothing special...but it was a buffet and offered a quick meal if needed.

The problems started upon check in. We were moved from our king room to a double queen, with no rate reduction. Kind of a bummer for an anniversary trip. Then I was further disappointed when the bottle of champagne I requested upon making my reservation was not present and it was not even acknowledged. The loud and obnoxious guests can only be controlled so much by the hotel but it didn't make our stay any better. Customer service was hit or miss the whole weekend but the housekeeping staff were wonderful.
