I stayed here years ago while attending a conference at UGA and remember it being a nice place, but was a tad on the pricy side, but since then the price seems to be better and if you do your reservations in advance you can typically get a rate under $70 before taxes which is good for a Holiday Inn. The hotel is currently under some renovations, but that didn't interfere with my stay nor cause any issues. The hotel layout is different that newer Holiday Inns as this is an older property that has been renovated and added on to over the years. The restaurant was fine and has a breakfast buffet, but is not free unless you are an IHG rewards member and sometimes they will give you a free breakfast coupon. The parking is fair as you have to park around the property and then walk to the few entrance areas, but isn't that bad either. The hotel is very close to numerous restaurants and about 6 miles from the mall, Sams Club, and other major retailers. Overall a nice place to stay that is affordable and I will be staying here again. Also, I've stayed here and the Holiday Inn Express which is just a few blocks down the road and this hotel is by far better. The Holiday Inn Express layout and elevator access and parking is just not nearly as good as the Holiday Inn. It may be a few dollars more, but to me it is worth it to stay at the Holiday Inn in Athens. I've also stayed at other hotels in Athens including the Comfort Suites, Sleep Inn, and the dreaded Microtel years ago and this is the best place to me that I've stayed at.
