We were seated first when the restaurant opened for lunch. They asked us immediately for our lunch order but it was our first visit so I asked for additional time. Took them quite a while to return for the order. The first meal came 50 minutes later and the other four meals came after we had been there an hour. The food was largely mediocre although the She-crab Soup was awful (no one would eat it) and my salad appeared to have been marinated overnight in dressing. The yellow rice, french fries, and chicken strips were well received. We liked the creek view from the window.

We'll not return.

We loved Rae's Coastal Cafe fifteen years ago when we lived in Augusta. We visited this past weekend and couldn't wait to see if Rae's was as good as we remembered. We were delighted to find the food as good as we remembered, the atmosphere as festive, and the service as friendly. Highly recommend!!

Took my parents here to celebrate Father's day as well as their anniversary. Of course we expected that they would be busy, and we were prepared for that. Unfortunately, the restaurant, and specifically our server, didn't seem to be prepared for business.

The server could not answer questions about the menu without leaving to ask someone else. He also seemed to get confused about which tables had been seated first and which orders to put in first. A table next to us was seated long after we were, but their food arrived long before ours did. In fact, they were almost finished with their meals by the time our soup arrived. The server brought 2 soups & asked if we wanted pepper. When we said yes, he had to leave the table to fetch the pepper. Then he had to leave again, for several minutes, to get spoons, which he should have brought with the soups! When the soup bowls were empty, he brought 2 salads, and repeated the pepper dance. Then, with only the pepper grinder in hand, he said he would be right back to clear the soup bowls. We didn't see him again for 10 minutes. He really seemed to need some training on how to multitask. Our drinks went dry long before anyone offered refills, several times.

Though we ordered the specials, which you would think would be easy to prepare, it took forever to get our food. And for the size of the portions, the food was way overpriced. It was also very salty, so it was hard to enjoy it.

We were simply not impressed. No explanation was offered for our long wait. The restaurant had almost cleared out by the time we actually ate. In spite of all we have read and heard about the key lime pie, no dessert was even offered to us. This restaurant simply was a disappointment for all of us.

In town for a college visit and followed a Tripadvisor review to Rae's. As others have said, it's more than a bit tricky to find and probably would not have made it without GPS (even then it was confusing). Nevertheless, well worth the effort. Fun, casual atmosphere with very good food. We had the jerk chicken wings to start and they were excellent. Large and juicy with a good jerk rub. For dinner I had the Shrimp and Grits on the advice of our waitress (said it was Bill Murray's favorite). Very good but more of a casserole than I was expecting. Cheesy with lots of crab in with the grits and plenty of shrimp. My wife had the salmon and raved about it. The salad that accompanied the meal was good as well. Overall...recommended.

While in town an associate gave us a recommendation to check out Rae' s. Well after a little challenge following the GPS through the local neighborhood we found the parking lot full - a clue that it is a well liked establishment.
We ordered a crab cake and the salmon. Knowing that ordering a crab cake outside of Maryland can be a risky move, my friend was pleasantly surprised with a well made and flakey cake. The salmon was a generous portion, well seasoned and grilled to perfection.
