“Somrtimes cheap isn't the best idea”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

Went to Augusta for a music festival last weekend and just picked the cheapest thing close to the venue. Well, to begin with you had to fill out a form with name, address, phone., etc. and show photo ID to check in. When I asked "isn't all this on my reservation?" the reply was "lots of people lie about those things and we want to make sure who is staying here." The entire building smelled like cheap sanitizer, the wifi didn't work worth a damn, and it sounded like someone was beating the $#&^%* out of a little kid in the next room. The so called "continental breakfast" was so bad we walked across the street to a Cracker Barrel restaurant instead. The TravelLodge next door looked a lot better. Stay there instead if you are in the Grovetown area of Augusta, GA.

I would like to know where the rooms are which this hotel uses for promotion on their website. They certainly aren't at the location in Augusta, or at least, haven't looked like that in a number of years! We stayed for 2 nights during Masters week 2014, and were very disappointed with our rooms. They were in poor shape, very worn and tired, although new (but mismatched) towels had at least been put in the bathroom, as well as nice toiletries. Curtains on the window were off their hooks, extreme shabbiness everywhere. To top it off a train ran past the hotel every 10 minutes all night long.

On a positive note, the breakfast area was clean and adequate, and the staff, for the most part, were accommodating.

Despite the accommodation we had a wonderful experience at the Masters but would recommend that you book as soon as you know you are going. The better places get snapped up quickly.

I am often amazed when I arrive at a hotel by the contrast between the pictures the hotel posts online and the what I'm seeing of the actual establishment. If when you opened the door to your room, you could hold the online picture of the room up to the left of your view of the actual room you could play that touchscreen game thats always sitting on the corner of bars everywhere. The one where you have to pick out the differences between two seemingly identical images.
In this case, I would select from the image on the right, those two stains on the rug where someone either died or puked, the roach on the wall, the red-stained washcloth underneath the sink- (further evidence, that someone may have died in this room), and my own shadow cast by the 4000 Watt light in the parking lot that makes 3AM in the room just as bright and sunny as 3PM.

I win!

Bottom line: It's a motel, not a suite. Just because they put a full sized refrigerator in a motel room, it is not magically transformed into a suite. With that, comes all the amenities of a motel: plastic matress and pillows that crinkle when you lie on them, slow but friendly-ish sevice (it took me 20 minutes to check in with a reservation; though, to their credit, it was 11:30PM) and the occasional bug on the wall. On the plus side, its dirt cheap and they have a pool!

Hotel is difficult to reach due to divided highway and inadequate signs. We ended up driving around the block to find the entrance and discovered the back half of the hotel is boarded up. This detour also confirmed the hotel is in a seedy area and not downtown as the discription states. The hotel is very worn and not worthy of its ranking on websites. Very disappointed in the entire situation.

On the high note the hotel owner did allow me to utilize a special deal that was advertise on their web site. However, the rooms that were advertise on their web site in no way are the room we received. They showed a lovely updated well decorated room on their gallery site. They also boast on line and per my telephone conversation with the customer service representative a extended continental breakfast. If you consider orange juice, coffee and a box of danishes a extended continental breakfast then I guest I'm not an up-to-date on the term. It truly was a disappointment since the customer service representative asked how our stay was and when I answered he then offered to "pull out food". At that point we had had enough. Please note that this is not a good location, just down the road is the "city jail". If you are looking for cheap and uncomfortable then this is the place for you.
