“Natural Beauty”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 May 2014

We saw Opaekaa Falls, along with the nearby Wailua Falls. Very easy drive and we parked in the parking lot that has the restrooms. Looked out at the scenery there and crossed the road to see the beautiful falls. I love natural beauty! I just wish we could have figured out how to get access to the bottom (same issue with Wailua Falls). I have seen pictures with people at the bottom and it would have been nice to see from a different angle but there area signs of warning throughout.

“Drive-up access, nice view”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 May 2014

This waterfall is really easy to see, close to town, very pretty area and you can also see nice views of the Wailua River if you cross the road to look over the other side. Very worth the few minutes it takes to drive up to the parking area and a nice companion waterfall to see when visiting Wailua Falls, which is not far away.

“Easy to see, close to main road”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 May 2014

A very easy to see waterfall (no cost) about two miles from Kapa'a, close to mile marker 6 on Highway 56. If you have an extra 15-20 minutes stop by and take a look. The water flow fluctuates and on the day we went it was fairly light but still very pretty. Located off Kuamo'o Road (Highway 580) mountain side. Views of Wailua River across the street. The pool below these 150+ foot falls is on private property so no trail access. No lights in the area at night and pitch black outside (falls are not visible at night) making the stars even more brilliant.

“Picturesque Falls And Views Of Wailua River”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 April 2014

Opaekaa Falls, along with the nearby Wailua Falls, showcases the great natural beauty of Kaua’i!

Accessing Opaekaa Falls is easy, requiring a short five minute drive off the main road, Highway 56. Turn on Kuamoo Road, and the parking area on the right provides great views of the falls.

Even if you do not have much time, this is a great activity. You can see the falls and get back on the road within 30 minutes. Who doesn't have 30 minutes to see a beautiful waterfall?

From the parking area, cross Kuamoo Road for a panoramic view of the Wailua River. (Several companies provide a kayak trip on the Wailua River. We also did that and it was a fun adventure.)

Also, there is no access on the private property to the reach the bottom of the falls.

“Nice Drive-Up Waterfall”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 April 2014

This is a very accessible waterfall to see in the town of Kapaa, and completely free. No hike necessary, just drive up. We saw this waterfall on a day we decided to just drive around and take in some of the beautiful sights in Kauai. Even though others have said it’s not spectacular, we thought it was very pretty, especially with the mountains in the distance. Just as we were about to leave, it started to rain and were rewarded with a beautiful rainbow! The Wailua River is right across the street and offers some scenic views as well. A very nice stop to take some scenic pictures in Kapaa.
