Okay, it is not a Disney kinda stop, but seeing it and reading about it, if you have not already done your research, is a great look-out.
It is a "Gotta Go" kinda place.

Rube

It's a pond. For fish. Other than that it is in a very pretty valley location and there are some obvious photo opps. So, five stars for being a great example of the fish pond..... but that's about all.

A great stop if you have seen the majority of the island. Do not make it a priority or a must see if you have not done all the other splendors of the island. Perfect for a second or third visit to the island, even if it is easy to get to especially if you are near Kalapaki Bay. No need to spend more than 5 minutes here.

There are a few signs that point the way to this attraction, I actually drove past until I realized that I had and turned around. Unfortunately the signs at the sight have been vandalized -- one is missing and the other is sprayed with graffiti. To quote our guide book "This is a large, impressive fishpond adjacent to the Hule'ia Stream. According to legend, it was built in one night by the Menehune as a gift for a princess and her brother. Estimates of age range as high as 1000 years. Today it is privately owned and has fallen into disrepair as a fishpond." It's worth a look, and it can be on the way to the south shore area.

A short scenic drive from Lihue and a great drive. The pond is just a pond but with great history. The ambience of this place is great with the mountain range in the background impressive. Worth a stop on this scenic drive.
