“Sprinkle my ashes here!”
Reviewed 27 July 2014

This may honestly be the most beautiful place I've ever seen in my lifetime! Sunshine, rain clouds, rainbows, mountains, palm trees, waterfalls, sandy beach, sailboats, trade winds, the famous pier , calm ocean and the spirit of Aloha all in one place at the same time! Absolutely breathtaking. A perfect beach for the whole family. Surf lessons, paddle boards, snorkeling amid the gentle waves for all ages. If you travel to Kauai and miss this opportunity you may regret it for the rest of your life!!!

“An easy place to swim and learn stand-up paddle-boarding”
Reviewed 23 July 2014

What a gorgeous beach and pier. A cute town with shops and restaurants. A popular beach for both locals and tourists. The water is a beautiful light blue and very clear. Very calm. Warning: if you walk to the end of the pier you might be encouraged to jump off! This is a must see if you are on the north shore. Fun fact: several scenes from"The Descendants" starring George Clooney were filmed in Hanalei.

“Nice beach to see the sunset near Bali Hai”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

We went to Hanalei Bay/Pier for an evening and it does have some very nice views. The pier was a magnet for many locals to gather and when we were there the mountains were ensconced in clouds and occasional showers while to the west it was clear to partly cloudy. Definitely worth a stop for a sunset for one night of your trip. Surf was very tranquil here in June and a very large and expansive beach that wraps around the bay. We brought grilled cheese and pork sandwiches as well as smoothies and a malt at Pink's Creamery and enjoyed a meal here and a walk before a beautiful sunset just a little to the south of Bali Hai. Parking is ample at the pier area and we were there on a Sunday evening. Saw a few rainbows with the mountain showers that were just a few miles away. Definitely worth a stop, particularly for a sunset view.

“Hanalei Bay”

A little bit of paradise on the North coast of Kauai. Quiet (for Hawaii) and the town is quaint. Clean, safe beach with a lifeguard post, and the backdrop of mountains lets you know you are in the tropics. Stunning sunsets - take your camera down to the beach as the sun sinks.
There are flies/mosquitoes around in the evenings, so be prepared!
