We made a detour down the Ke'anae peninsula to see the views, the lava church and get some banana bread. Without the bread the side trip was worth it. The views back up to the mountains are gorgeous and the lava church is very quaint. When you take into account the banana bread then it is an absolute must! The bread was fantastic! We also got yummy coconut ice cream. As soon as we left we wished we had bought several loaves for later. I wonder if they ship?

We drove down the Keanae peninsula to have lunch. On our way back to the Hana Hwy we stopped at Aunty Sandys for banana bread and shave ice. We enjoyed the trade winds at the out door picnic tables as we waited. The shave ice was delish! Hawaiian shave ice puts main land snow cones to shame!!!! and the tropical flavors are amazing. The banana bread was wrapped while it was still warm for us to take on the road. For a great Scooby snack you have to stop at Aunty Sandys!

We stopped in as we were driving by and enjoyed it. The different bread was really good. My kids really liked in and we took some with for the rest of our drive.

Most people probably pass right by Aunty Sandy's because of the road which is hard to see as you are navigating your way on the Road to Hana. If you stop at the "Best Banana Bread" road side stand you went right by Aunty Sandy's and if you did you missed some of the best part of the Road to Hana. A place to get out and stretch your legs and walk up and down the rocky coast trying to capture that one very special photo of this magnificent land. When your done eating a loaf or two of bread at Sandy's don't just turn out and drive back out to the Road to Hana, but continue onto the road a little further past Sandy's (1/4 mile approx) to see more of the ocean's beauty.

This stop is a must! The warm, fresh out of the oven bread was so good we bought more before we left. The service was friendly and the views were amazing!
